Jamies (Charlotte St)

Think again before booking this place for a group. We were a party of 15, all pre-booked with menu choices faxed through in advance. Complete disaster: the first main course took over an hour to arrive (this at lunchtime), at which point people who still hadn't received starters had to cancel theirs. The last main course (for those who hadn't abandoned all hope) arrived over 1.5 hours after we entered. Some dishes were luke-warm at best. While under-staffed front of house, apparently they had a full complement of chefs that day! Various apologies were made and charges deducted, but by that point the occasion was ruined. This isn't limited to very large groups either, colleagues had experienced similarly poor service with only 6 people - we should have listened to them.

First visit to Jamies, and only good things to say. Booking was a breeze, friendly staff were just slightly over-attentive (got asked twice if we wanted drinks, twice if we wanted desserts, twice if we wanted coffee, each time by different people), but they were there when we wanted them and left us to get on with our business discussion most of the time. Good selection of food for carnivores, though not so great for the vegetarian. Fair wine list, with lots by the glass (2 sizes). As Arnie said, I'll be back!
