While visiting London, I made a point to visit Montpeliano. The Restaurant was a former Butcher Shop 1860-1890 owned by my G-Grandparents John & Letitia Cockerton. I presented the Owner with a photo as it appeared in 1872 when my Grandmother was a Baby. The Photo hangs in the Restaurant. The old beams are still there that the Meat once hung on. We were seated under them. While dining on a great meal. The owner and the staff were just great. Plan to re-visit on our next trip to London. *****

Montpeliano is a great place to enjoy dinner. The decor is tacky in the most endearing of ways, the staff are friendly and charming. It's a great place to become a regular.

Montpeliano is one of the best italian restaurants in london. I am a regular customer who has never had a bad meal, simply because the food is spectacular, the service is great and the bill is reaosnable for the quality of food served. Great atmosphere too

Disaster! Booked Montpeliano for Valentine's night hoping for a romantic meal for two. Although the surroundings were pleasant, the service was without question the worst I have ever experienced.
There was no service at our table for 20 minutes after we were shown to our seats, and throughout the night we had to fight for the attention of the waiters to get anything done. A wine list was begrudgingly delivered after half an hour, but then a bottle of red was provided despite us asking for some white!
The food menus eventually arrived after 4 mins, but there were massive gaps between courses, with more significant effort required to get plates cleared...
The final insult was the respone of the waiter when we crossed the service charge off the bill - we expained that it was because the service had been poor all evening and he just shrugged his shoulders and said "up to you, I haven't got three hands"...unbelievable that there had been no apology...
There are many far far nicer restaurants in London to spend your money in, with waiters who actually provide customer service...
Racine just down the road is where I will be going next year, where the service is always impeccable. Lesson learned - book early or face disappointment from places like this!

a fabulous restaurant. My wife and i Go there at least twice a year with a party of about 10 colleagues and friends. The food is always very good, the service attentive and while it not inexpensive we always feel we got our moneys worth. I came upon this site as I was trying to book my table for 12 on line. I usually call, and I guess I will do just that.

I have been there twice in the past 2 weeks. My guests on both occassion were not happy with the sea-food although I must say the dishes I had were good. My only let-down was the lack of attention from the waiters, especially when entertaining clients! James S.
