The experience was a bitter and very disappointing one. We were treated like we weren't good enough for the restaurant, we paid over the odds for the food and we were overcharged for the privilege.

- We were charged for what seemed to be complimentary olives and bread and later the 'open sweet' which were automatically brought to our table;

- We asked for tap water (after ordering a £29 bottle of wine)- the staff made a huge fuss and openly scoffed. We were brought a jug, but when we paid, we were charged £7 (it was definitely tap water)

- The staff were arrogant and conceited;

- To top it all off, they then charged us for an extra coffee we didn't have.

I was so angry and disgusted about the whole experience.

Extraordinarily bad!

A sad display of rude behaviour and lack of respect!

Arguing with the clients, forgetting the order and swearing around the table are indeed a never come back statement!

Definitely one to give it a miss!

We went last night after reading rave reviews here. The restaurant is pleasant enough if stuck in the '80s. Waiters were plenty in the restaurant but they did not really work so service took ages and was rude and borderline comically bad. The food here is extremely overpriced for frankly tourist-quality bog standard italian food.

Go to Signor Sassi around the corner which offers much better quality at similar prices and has much better service! I won't come here again, thats for sure.

I am a regular customer of the Montepeliano Restaurant as my partner who is Italian, loves its Italian atmosphere, delicious food and very friendly staff.

I have been to many top restaurants and I really think that Montepeliano Restaurant is one of the kind that makes us want to come back there again and again...

I was taken by a friend this week for my Birthday lunch, the food was delicious and the service excellent, my friend and I were not rushed and we spent a most enjoyable few hours in this excellent Restaurant.. it has been a few years since I last ate here but was happy to find the service and the food were still first class..

Very disappointed went there with my girlfriend and thought it was pricy for what it was. I herd a lot about this restaurant but remained disappointed.

Very bad service and waiters were unhappy as the restaurant was empty

I went last year in June 2009.

Without doubt the worst meal we have ever had anywhere!!!

We have just come back from there - it is late in the evening but I was so upset by the whole experience that I had to get it out of my system. The service was surly; one might even say rude. Furthermore, although there were alot of waiters milling about and the restaurant was not that busy it took forever to be served or for that matter noticed.

This would all be palatable (pardon the pun) if the food was. We have eaten at some of the top restaurants in the world and are happy to pay top price for the privelege but this was a huge rip off.

Montpeliano is the best italian restaurant in London - the food is great and there is a very wide selection, the service is superb and although it can be expensive it is worth every penny. I go there all the time because I know I will not be disappointed. I would recommend it to everybody.
