Not as hip as they think they are, very disappointed, very poor value for average food and shoddy service!

Soo many other better options round this area, they need to try harder, definitely won't be going back again and will be advising friends likewise.

Cargo always provides a good night out! this venue is based around the music with its diverse selection of contemporary sounds. The food aspect is an additional bonus.. and its what you expect - tasty, satisfying bar food, often with a twist - check the sweet potato chips..

I would agree that the service is a bit shoddy at times.. particularly early evening when it seems the night staff have just come on and they are saving energy for the imminent shift, but this is no excuse for the poor service. If you think you too cool to wait on people dont be a waiter/waitress! it is only the customer who suffers - the service can definately affect the entire mood of a meal/evening.

From the rich choice of hoxton bars/eateries and nightclubs it is one of the places where you can expect to have good times...particularly as it successfully combines all three elements. Dont go for formal dinner here - but enjoy the diverse experience of cargo..

This is close to my office so I go there quite a lot for lunch, drinks and clubbing. Drinks are great but the food is uninspiring, even for a quick snack it is really bland. The world food concept is a good one but dishes have nothing genuine to them and bear very little ressemblance to what they should be like. Your best bet if you are there for drinks and feel hungry is to stick to the sweet potato chips, it's really what they do best.

The outdoor dining area at Cargo has recently been done up, looks pretty cool and is a nice lpace to sit and eat some food. What a shame then that the food here is so dreadful. "South American street food" sounds quite cool but the reality is that it was just scraped up off a south american street! I attemped to have a chicken burger without the pesto it usually came with. It took 3 attempts for them to get ths right and they even tried to persuade me that pest means the same as peri-peri. When it finally arrived my friends had all finished, my chips were cold and even then it was so dry and tasteless I left most of it. The burritos my friend had were also dried up and unpleasant. It is really hard to fathom why the food should be so bad. This sort of stuff is extremely simple and really requires no cooking ability and yet they still get it wrong.

You don't go to Cargo for a full-on restaurant experience, they do perfectly decent snacky bites that line your stomach well enough for a night's drinking without making you so full as to preclude any dancing. I know the place well and have been going here on and off for years. So it was with confidence that I recommended to a friend that she book a large table for supper to celebrate her birthday before we hit the adjoining club. The booking procedure was so over the top and completely impersonal. She had to fill out a fax and confirm numbers and agree to pay charges if people didn't show. Quite off-putting. Once we got there the service was laughable. One really uninterested waitress for a table of over 20. Fair enough, we thought, the food was fine and the drinks flowed (so long as we went to the bar to fetch our own). But when the bill arrived, there was the requisite 12.5% whacked on, which grated given the unpleasant booking and almost complete lack of service. For the first time ever, we didn't pay it. We tipped a smaller amount, still generous given our shoddy treatment. What we received were bar snacks, not silver spoon restaurant service warranting a tip of over £50.
