The food is terrible and has always been terrible - no news here.
The question is: why on earth is this place still open?

I'm from the netherlands, and I was in London for a week with my class.
Every year my school organizes a trip to london, every year they eat at Lorenzo's... AND every year the students complain about the terrible meals they had to eat.
This year it was our turn, and it was awful!
My chicken was raw, the pasta was a simple pasta Napolitana and this was the only restaurant that can make it possible to screw it up!
The bread was old and hard as rocks, though this was the only thing i've eaten the whole week.

Truly appalling!! Although it was a tuesday night and the restaurant was empty we were given the smallest table for 2 they could find. The starter was good quality ingredients it was just a shame that the chef couldn't be bothered to prepare them but preferred to simply take off the wrappers and dump them on the plate. The filet of sea bass was full of bones, dry & tasteless with some 'smash' and stewed spinach. As another reviewer advised you really are better off in Pizza Express!! (and invite 12 mates if you feel you want to spend the same as you would have for 2 in San Lorenzo)

This is the worst restaurant I have ever been to. I felt ill-at-ease throughout, wondering where my money was going.
You're better off at Pizza Express.

I ate lunch at San Lorenzo today (22/05/07) with some work chums; it was my first experience.
I had never heard of the place but one of my co-workers was highly complimentary and had even been to a gay-wedding there (so I began to think it must be good)!
Imagine my surprise when, on the way to the toilet, I saw Elizabeth Hurley and some other recognisable ladies. I began to think the resturant must be very good.
How wrong I was. The resturant has a relaxed atmosphere and there was nothing wrong with the food, but it was purely average. The wine was of a similar standard. But what really made me think ill of the place was the service!! Mute, ignorant, and lacking the basic skills and knowledge required of a waiter, the staff were poor. My plate was taken before the rest of the table had finished, my glass was taken half-full (I'm positive, so not half-empty) and there was no effort made to check on my well-being throughout the meal. I certainly didn't see the owners, whoever they are.
I am no worshipper of the cult of celebrity therefore this resturant holds nothing special for me. I have had much worse but I have paid less for much, much better. I will not be shouting about this place.

We visited on Thursday and couldn't believe the price/value ratio.
As regular customers of some of London's finest restaurants we have become used to paying through the nose for our dining - but it's not often, if ever, that we have had such a disappointing meal.
Indifferent staff, poor, cramped decor and average food plus a bill for £96.00 for two with 1 starter, 2 pasta main courses and 1 dessert plus a bottle of the cheapest white wine, left us feeling that this restaurant is a poor example of what London can offer at the most expensive level.

My daughter and i ate at San Lorenzo on saturday 27.1.07. The food was good but very tiny portions and garnish with the pasta would have helped.Staff were friendly but it is such a shame that the owners spent all their time kissing people they saw on a regular basis and brushed past our table several times and they did not even say hello.Sorry but there are many places to eat in london where we would not be ignored.

I visited San Lorenzo this weekend and left with a luke warm reaction to it.
I have dined there before so I was quite excited to return. Unfortunately the food did not live up to my memories and I shan't be returning in the future. Poorly prepared and badly presented was my opinion. Having asked for my Tuna steak to be rare I certainly didn’t expect it to be over done. Also the deep fried Calamari ( a dish quite hard to cook correctly) was overly cooked and in my opinion a sloppy effort by the chef.
The wait staff were quite attentative and seemed to be genuinely friendly although the hostess (who I believe is the owner) was a very sour woman who I think should realise that just because alot of her non celebrity customers don’t get photographed her leaving restaurant doesn’t mean she should view them with such visual disdain.

Erica - people with opinions different to yours aren't tasteless, they are people with standards.
I ate here last night with my girlfriend and her mother. The service was only ok, the food was ok - if you like everything swimming and soaked in olive oil then it's great. It's obvious that a high standard of food is used - so it really didn't need the extra oils.
I didn't like that I was asked before the oldest person at the table for my order, and I didn't like that our plates were taken away so quickly. I aslo didn't like that I had to ask for them to bring us butter. I may be fussy but I'm paying for it!! I wouldn't invite people over to my house for dinner and give them that service.
The table water was perfect.

I had the misfortune to eat here - my meal, and that of my companions, turned out to be one of the worst any of us had ever experienced. Particularly awful was my mother's fish, which was partly frozen in the centre. We told the waiter who basically could not have seemed to care less. No wonder most other people seemed to be eating crudites - at least they are supposed to be cold.
