Fabulous! I had dinner there with my friend on saturday. We just loved our smiley waitress. Food was good as well.

Well done!

My 5th visit to Frederick's was my final one. I t had been 6 months since my wife and I dined there and I guess 6 months is a long time in the culinary world. I have to agree with most reviewers that the service is woefully unacceptable and bordering on outright rudeness. I even felt the atmosphere to be less cheerful than usual, as the tables around us worked away at their meals, and spent less time in friendly conversation. Maybe there has been a new wave of waiting staff recently come through, because the service lets down what should be (and was once) a perfect dining experience.

Food - magic, value - absolutely fine, service - non-existent, atmosphere - not much fun.

If Frederick's could start afresh with new front-of-house staff, we'll be back.

I have to agree with the comments below. This really is a lovely restaurant - so much so I had my wedding there. However on my last visit I made the mistake of putting my bag on one of the outside lights. My bag was ruined - I complained to our waiter explaining that I knew it was my fault for putting the bag there but they could have warned us when seating us. The waiter couldn't have been more unhelpful - going as far as to walk away without comment.

I had to complain twice before I was told the manager would call me in the morning. Because the complaint was not dealt with immediately it totally ruined our meal which at their prices should have been a special treat.

The manager did phone and offer us a free bottle of champagne on our wedding anniversary. But the whole thing left a rather tarnished view of the place and I have yet to decide whether to go back.

Fabulous food, fabulous service, I can't fault this restaurant. On each occasion I have dined here I have found the food and the service impeccable.

I ate at Frederick's with my girlfriend in early May, having heard various good things from friends and read generally good reviews on this site.

Whilst the food was of a good standard, we found the service to be very poor. Our waitress was efficient in her approach but sullen in her manner, often straying into being rude. Whilst the restaurant may be seeking to provide an understated service, this should not compromise normal politeness - asking how one's meal was, and making eye contact for example.

We felt so strongly about the nature of the service that we raised it with one of the head waitresses. Her response was accommodating, but we were very disappointed that she then spoke to the waitress in question, who continued to serve us but in an even more sullen manner than before. Indeed her attitude bordered on arrogance.

At the end of the meal, I believe we were offered a complementary drink (although nobody would expressly discuss our grievance with us). We declined, on the basis that the experience had left a sour taste in our mouths. I was also disappointed to find that the discretionary service charge had been added to our bill, which indicated that my complaint had been ignored. I had made it very clear that I was unhappy with the service, and was amazed that I still had to ask for the discretionary charge to be removed.

I notified the restaurant of my complaints on the service the next day and was contacted by one of the owners, which I thought was a nice touch. He also offered a complimentary bottle of wine for our next visit, although he didn't confirm this by e-mail as he said he would.

In any event I will not be returning to Frederick's again, unless a friend chooses that restaurant for a special occasion. Good service should be expected but polite service should be guaranteed. Anything else detracts from the evening, and makes you wonder why you chose to eat out in the first place.

I went to frederick's on Saturday evening for my birthday and had a fantastic meal. The service was very efficient and the food delicious. They had a good selection on the menue and we all chose well. It makes a difference who your companians are and I'm sure some nights are better than others but we all loved it and we shall definitely be returning there.
