I went to this restaurant once before with my father and found it medicore. But 2 years on and now living close by I gave it another go last week. My husband and I brought 2 guests and got a table outside in the 'bar' area with stunning views of the bridge. We were allowed look at the restaurant menu but couldn't order a starter from one and then a main from the bar menu - even though when I asked a supervisor about it, I was told the dishes on the bar menu were the same but cheaper.....She also told me that the 24hr slow cooked steak was fab and had no fat which is why she liked it. So two of us chose it as a main - mine was at least 40% fat, as in one huge piece of disgusting fat attached to a piece of meat. The other one had a lot less fat but was definitely not 'slow cooked'. One guest asked for potatoes instead of the fries that came with her dish - we were charged extra for them as they brought both to the table.
Overall , very disappointed with the food, the service was ok, nice waiter. Stunning view.

I always feel this place is much underated. We use it on a fairly regular basis for Sunday lunches and the place has never failed to deliver. The service is very very friendly and the food is always of a good standard.
Think much malgned because of the Conran connections.

Having been to the Chop House a few times I find it is extremely hit and miss, with service and food quality varying. However I have always been prepared to go again until my meal there recently.
Service was slow to the point of non-existent - we had to ask for menus!
Starters were fine if not spectacular. Then having arrived at the restaurant at 8.30, I checked my watch when the main courses arrived and it was almost 10pm. The reason for this became apparent when we tasted the main courses and they were both stone cold. Clearly had been sitting waiting to be served for some time.
We complained and were given marginally warmer re-doctored plates which were clearly the same food. Didn't really improve the texture of the pork loin....
There were no real apologies for this and of course no reduction on the bill for either the cold dishes or the service charge.
Will not be going back again.

Myself and my boyfriend had lunch here on Saturday. On the whole we thought the food was below average and over priced. We started with creamy mushroom soup which was good. For our mains we had starter dishes. I had the mussels which were not fresh and in a tasteless white wine sauce. I only managed three mussels one of which tasted foul and had to be spat out! My partner had shrimps which unexpectedly came in a cold pate style. This wasn’t stated in the menu and the shrimp pate wasn’t fresh or tasty. All of this washed down with half a bottle of Chablis came to £60 including 12.5% service charge. Service on the whole was okay, but nobody asked me why I hadn’t eaten my mussels. This is unacceptably rude. I would NOT recommend this place as the food is over priced and sub standard. Don’t go. All Bar One which is only a few meters away from this place serves far nicer food at a fraction of the price.

Lovely food, but don't get taken in by the £10 for 2 course lunch offer. If you want potato and veg with your main course it will cost you an extra £6. With service charge your 2 courses will cost £18 -- NOT £10 !
The £10 advertisement is in my view dishonest, and put us in a bad mood to start the meal. Better to advertise at £12 and at least to include chips. Then we would have been happy and would have been able to enjoy the food as it deserved.

I was really disappointed by the food as well, especially that the bill worked out (for two main courses, 1 bottle of wine and 2 desserts) at £84. My pigeon was really dry and almost charred. There was very little flavour in the meat as a result of the fact that it was verging on cinders). However I expected that the accompanying sauce would be good and was disappointed that it had very little flavour. Two very small greasy looking roast potatoes arrived as a side order and my companion's chips looked exceptionally greasy. Lots of places in London serve better quality food then this at half the price. I wouldn't usually accept that quality of food but didn't want to embarrass my date by causing a fuss. I certainly would never go back.

We went on Sunday in early December 06 with two friends. The food was good and reasonably priced, though scallops (incurring a surcharge of £2.50!) consisted of only three small samples with a bit of salad, and for those of you that like game do look out for the lead shot and resulting fragments of bone! Wine was a bit on the pricey side - an English Bacchus at about £20 and Valpolicella, which was good but not remarkable, at £26ish! Puddings are mostly true English style: bread and butter pud was great under the slightly stodgy but not crisp crust. The only really unacceptable thing was this restaurant’s policy on smoking. They positively encourage it as they sell the things and they don’t have a separate area for those of us who have some respect for our health and taste buds. In a large place like this there is NO excuse for not having a segregated smoke hole for the heathens. (Don’t get me wrong – I will indulge in a cigar occasionally but I don’t want cigarette smoke wafting across in the middle of my meal.) I will go back when the situation is right – but not until the UK’s (non) smoking legislation means a guarantee of a smoke-free meal. Get this sorted Mr. Conran!
N.B. lower rating on service than would otherside give due to poor response when we commented on the smoking issue.

Despite of what i heard about the restaurant,I was prepare to go but was very disappointing about the food.My loin of pork was dry and tough and my friend's pheasant was the same.I made a complaint to the waiter but there was no answer to be had from the chef as no one got back to me.Then we order the cheese and the selection given was hardly edible as they were all at fridge temperature and not good!I am not going there again.
