Lovely food, horrible service. We ate here on The Times dine out for £5 deal. Ok, it was a cheap deal, but the point of this deal is to bring in new business which you can then convert to future customers. My booking had been recorded for the wrong day, a mistake anyone can make. How they handled it was not good, we were forced to share a table with another couple despite there being plenty free tables. To top this off the staff could be heard, quite clearly, moaning about how quiet it was.
All around us people were being offered condiments, extra bread and had service with a smile. Our service wasn't.
I will be writing to The Times to request that they do not invite this place back into their offer next year.

My partner and I had a most enjoyable pre-theatre meal on Friday. Excellent choice of house wines and superb dishes to choose from on their Tapas menu or ‘Chopas’ as it is known. Our meal with two dishes each and a bottle of wine came to around £35.00. Great value for money! I don’t know if they are always busy but they were doing brisk trade, and our friendly waiter was attentive and quick.

Food was excellent. I had chorizo, squid and rocket salad, and my friend had pork chop with mash - not something you'd normally get excited about, but we were both raving about the pork. The service was odd though. One waiter was really unfriendly and could have made the whole thing into a miserable experience, but then the other couldn't have been more friendly and enthusiastic.

I went here a couple of nights ago with my boyfriend and had one of the best meals I have ever had. We tucked into the Chopas-their new Tapas like menu. It was great...really good value for money. It felt really romantic as it is so old and the high wooden pews and black and white floor make you feel as if you have gone back in time. Highly recommended. Great tasting, british food with a twist and the service is fantastic too!

Ate there last night; very disappointed. Jellied eels were good but steak and chips dreadful: 'rare' steak overcooked and dry (how can you ruin good steak?)and chips soggy, brown and greasy. Ugh!My friend's battered fried fish also too greasy. But sorbet good. Service adequate but a little careless (I was given the wrong food). At £30+ a head expected better
