We ate here the night after a fantastic meal at Gordon Ramsay on Hospital Road so perhaps our benchmark was too high.

Even allowing for the lower prices we weren't overly impressed.

The food was OK, although we felt some of the dishes were a little confused. Nothing really shone, although the dessert of a blackcurrant icecream and chocolate torte was very nice. Little things annoy me in restauarnts of this price, and butter too cold to spread is one of them.

The lady who took our order, I think she was the maitre'd, was very rushed. The restaurant is spread over several floors and she didn't seem to have time to keep an eye on proceedings, and wasn't as relaxed and friendly as we'd like to see. My wife asked for an alternative to fois gras on the tasting menu, and whilst that was provided we didn't get the "no problem whatsover" feeling I think you should at somewhere aiming at the levels it does. We opted for the accompanying wines but our different dishes for the first course obviously threw them. We had the same wine for this, and then diffent wines on the next course when we were eating the same dish.

For £250 for two it was slightly disappointing. The tables are too close and the head staff in particular seem to have too much to do. A little more attention to detail and it could be very enjoyable, but it really wasn't quite there.

A party of six of us came here for a birthday dinner and I must admit we were all very disappointed. Although the service, ambience and the wine list was impressive, the food was in my opinion quite poor. I would recommend that you can get a much better meal elsewhere for a fraction of the price.

The food was interesting but overly ambitious, the service polite but somewhat stiff and the tables much too close to each other. The tasting menue at £68 was an interesting choice and the dishes were rather unusual.

This resturants has the potential to be superb. It needs to retain the unigueness of the dishes and at the same time simplify them, soften the service and give us punters a little more elbow room.

I just come back from a dinner at Lindsay House.

It began with a first disappointment. The bottle of champagne i pre-ordered was not on the table and i had to ask for it in front of my guests. I was really looking forward to being advised on the wine but un fortunately nobody in this restaurant knew theirs basics about wine. By the way, the lists look old, dusty and dirty. We still can enhance the fact they are keen on original wines and the mark up are kept down.

Food wise, let's say everything went fine. The amuse-bouche were very unique in many ways : pigs trotter, fish soup and things i still wonder what they were. The result is fat and not really understandable.

The venison reached the peak by being as hard as the chairs we had to sit on. The location, the beams, the stairs...etc seem irreprochable and bring a lovely atmosphere. However the poor service does not highlight this charming house.

The food was expensive but fabulous. However the service was very poor which was unexpected. When we enquired if there was a problem we received a very rude response. There was defineitely a large amount of discontent in the ranks that evening and the service definitely left a bitter taste in our mouths.

My boyfriend and I ate at Lindsay House for a romantic meal on our anniversary. It was absolutely superb.

The menu was so good I had difficulty deciding what to have, but was very pleased with the scallops and pigs' trotters that I went for. My boyfriend started with crubeens and then had the loin of rabbit. Everything was absolutely delicious. The deserts were a little disappointing when compared to the main courses, but I think that only the French do desert really well.

The service was excellent, in particular the somelier was very knowledgeable and helpful advised us very well on what wine to have.

I loved Lindsay House and I can't wait to go back.

My husband took me there as a birthday surprise. We had a fantastic evening. There was a large party upstairs and on entering we were left sitting with no drinks for ages. We had to ask in the end and the staff were mortified. We had complementary drinks and after this initial problem everything was superb. The food was incredible and the wine delicious. We had the tasting menu and they were happy to substitute items from the garden menu for me on certain courses. I think the bill was about £210-£220 but I wasn't paying so I didn't care! We will definitely be telling our friends about this place and will be returning

Corrigan's restaurant provides simple but stylish surroundings as if you are eating in his front room. Tables were well spaced providing a romantic setting for two but we were rather perturbed by the 'Pizza Express' like card on each table advertising Corrigan's latest cookbook (are we to presume that sales are not doing well that they need to flaunt it so blatantly). Food was fresh and well presented with the always enjoyable experience of the little extras (a whole assortment of amuse buche and also a pre-dessert). Our expectations were heightened by the fact that we'd watched Corrigan just that week in 'Great British Menu' where he had concocted some wonderful dishes but in the restaurant itself I wasn't so overly impressed. Don't get me wrong, the food was very good but parts of it were served a little too al dente for my liking and other than the amuse buche they lacked the 'wow' factor. However, my boyfriend ordered the venison and I have to admit to being particularly jealous of his choice when it arrived. All in all, this is a good restaurant but personally I would call upon some of Corrigan's competitors first if I had to choose.

It was novel to dine in a house-like atmosphere, but the novelty wore off once we settled down and couldn't quite hear what we were saying to each other. Too cramped!

Food-wise it satisfied my partner, who is a michelin snob. The freshness and technical achievement of the cooking is fautless. The wine paring for the tasting menu was most impressive as well, especially the grand cru blanc de blancs champagne and the chilean camenere. Overall, £240 for two people including tips and water was steep, but quite an experience. One star is quite appropriate, but they seem to be charging three star prices when the service and surroundings are not quite up to it.
