Set pre-theatre dinner of £50 is a good choice. Food (three choices) is exquisite though the hot food is not very warm. Service is spot on and the dining room is a sight to behold.
Drink is expensive. £21 for a glass of the Louis Roderer NV. Keep in mind that the wine will be around £10 more expensive than elsewhere. Nevertheless, it is an ideal venue for a celebration.

I made a reservation for the Ritz restaurant over 4 month ago. It was a special occasion for me and boy oh boy what a fantastically brilliant evening it was. I must say the 'valen time' menu was a bargain at £50 (including the tip). All 3 courses were delightful and the service was excellent. Can't wait to go again next 'valen time'!

I took my better half to the Ritz, being American I hoped she would like an old school British gastronomic institution. I was not disappointed. The restaurant looks amazing, the staff were friendly, polite and attentive (not too attentive). The food was quite simply, amazing. My missus had venison in chocolate sauce which was amazing. We're both pretty fussy and I could not fault this place. 5* in every respect.

We went to the Ritz to celebrate my mother's birthday. We went for the 4 courses for £65 menu which was lovely. The service was also fantastic throughout the night and of course the interior of the Ritz is absolutely beautiful.
My only gripe was not being able to take a photo of us on the night in the restaurant or in the foyer - what absolute rubbish! Unfortunately this would stop me going back on a special occasion, but when else would you go to the Ritz??

This is absolutely a place you have to have been to for afternoon tea.
Everything breathes grandeur, the rooms, the furniture, the staff, the guests.
The afternoon tea experience I would call it.
Although there is a dress code, and the ambience is calm and distinguished, I felt at ease.
The food was exquisite, the finger sandwiches, the scones, the cream, the strawberry jam, the pastries, the tea itself; everything was first quality.
I enjoyed this treat very much, and I will surely go back to The Ritz whenever I go to London.

I recently went to the Ritz with my boyfriend for a dinner. The staff were good, but I wasn't impressed with the food as found everything to be quite rich. Definitely not up to the standard of the fine dining I was expecting. Not sure about the prices as well - seriously overpriced for the quality of food served. But the luxurious art deco interior of the place is amazing, though clashing with the quality of food.

I got a last minute table at The Ritz last night and my gosh did I have one amazing night. The room itself is every bit as decadent and charming as you would expect only from The Ritz! However, nothing could prepare me for the quality of cooking and service on offer.
We started off with the asparagus baked in hay, what a treat, the lambs sweetbreads were so sweet and succulent accompaied by what can only be described the best morels I have tasted.
Next the Foie Gras Ballotine which was sheer decadence matched up with lemon verbina which almost took me back to days of childhood.
The main couse was out of this world - Fillet of Beef Rossini! Everything so packed with flavour especially the almost stickey truffle sauce!
The sommelier's wine choices were superb and the service was friendly and fun especially when Luigi flambéed the crepe suzette!
What fun, I will definately be back and would reccomend it to everyone!

I attending the Ritz for Sunday lunch and a anniversary celebration.
I have eaten at the Ritz on a few occasions, but this was the best visit by far. The only complaint would be the sombre faces of the other guests we shared the dining room with. Could turn you off your meal.
The service was just right, the meal excellent and the bill more then acceptable.
Really enjoyed and will return.

A mixed bag, though generally a quite positive experience. I've eaten at the Ritz many times over the years, and have always loved the place, despite the fact that the food can vary a bit......never less than good, but not by any stretch of the imagination flawless.
The room is the most gorgeous in the world, in my experience. I can't think of a single restaurant I've been to on Earth that can compare. In particular at night, when the place just comes alive! The service is very, very good, exactly as you'd expect for a dining room of this caliber.
The food.....the food........sometimes you Do get a dish that is just world class, but just as often you get something that you think "It LOOKS great, but as far as taste, maybe just a 6 out of 10". After a long dry spell, we had lunch there last Sunday.
An Asparagus soup managed to taste very much of asparagus, which is not easy. Most asparagus soup has little taste, as it's a veg with very subtle flavours. Having said that, I didn't find the soup to be all that great. It tasted a bit like TINNED asparagus, in fact, which was almost certainly not the case, as asparagus are in full bloom at the moment. Good, but not great. The other starter was a piece of mullet in a nice sauce. I'd give it 7 out of 10.
We also tried a third starter, the rabbit tortellini which was an absolute disaster. The rabbit filling tasted more of tuna fish than anything else, and the vanilla sauce that came with it, was simply terrible....sweet and utterly inappropriate for the dish. There were virtually raw broad beans scattered about the dish. I'd say this was one of the worst single dishes (at £21 for a starter) I've had in years.
Mains were the roast beef off the trolley (perfectly good...about as good as you could reasonably expect for a simple dish of roast beef and Yorkshire pudding... and a wonderful chicken dish sitting on a bed of mushrooms with a very good cream sauce.
Both deserts were exceptional, and fully up to world class standards.
We'd eaten lunch at Restaurant One o One the day before, and to be honest, the food was better. The food at the Ritz can be exceptional, but the slightly variable nature of the Ritz cuisine keeps it from being the perfect experience.

Had a lovely time at the Ritz to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The hotel and the restaurant is simply beautiful, full of glamour and old world charm. It is like stepping into a 1920's movie or a fairytale book. Its nice to see a place not modernising - to be different!
We took the 4 course £65 set menu which had good dishes to choose from. The food was delicious, well cooked and beautifully presented. The portions were a bit small and as only 1 small slice of bread was ever offered and there was no amuse bouche or other little extras, we were not entirely satisfied at the end of the meal.
The other criticism we have of the evening is that the staff could have been more enthusiastic/forthcoming. Don't get me wrong they were polite and available. But there was just no spark and we didn't feel like the service was at a level of an over-and-above restaurant - like we always do at a Ramsey restaurant.
Overall, we enjoyed the food and the evening (the Ritz I think is one of the most romantic restaurants in London). But it could have been perfect if they could just pull themselves up that extra couple of inches with the food and service.
