i went through all the reviews before daring to enter this restaurat, but i was pleasantly surpriused by the the quality and the service of food. true there is a delay in the food to come out, it took nearly 20 mts but then when i asked i was told it is made fresht thus the delay. i just enjoyed my drinks a bit more with the free pre starter that they have given.
i did not understand why the bad reviews were given but i would definately go back again

The interior of the restaurant is nice, it's quite big but still the atmosphere wasn't bad. The service was fine and the wine was nice, but the food was so disappointing. We went for a curry but barely recognised anything on the menu - they dont have the standard balti, madras, vindaloo, biryani etc. Still, I saw this as a good opportunity to try something new.
The sauce was nice enough, but I find it hard to believe the chicken was actually chicken. It was lumps of gristle and dark grey meat. Actually inedible, I just mixed the sauce in with the rice and ate that with the naan bread. It hardly mattered therefore that the portions were very small for what you pay.
We looked at the desert menu but nothing looked tempting, and I was a bit reluctant to increase our bill any more considering the standard of the food. For the first time in my life I left a restaurant still hungry.

I was not impressed with 3 monkeys! I was recommended to go there by my colleague. The food was less than average, I have had better cooked meals at home! The food was very pricey and the menu didn’t consist of much. The dishes were not very clear on what they were made of, when I asked the waiter, he didn’t even know himself! The service was ok and the place is really nice but the food was a big let down. I defiantly won’t be going there again.

Absolutely awful service and problems with timing of the food.
Firstly our waters English was poor and he could when I question what an ingredient was he could not tell me - all he could do was repeat that it was a crab dish. In an attempt to understand the dish a bit more I asked him to describe it to me. Alas the poor chap could not even do that (and for the prices that are being charged that is pretty appauling).
When the starters arrived one was missing. The waiter did not pick up o this and I had to chase him. One of the dishes was also burnt.
Then we had to wait an hour for the main course to arrive - we chased twice and when they finally arrived half of them were luke warm.
On the upside the food was very good (apart from the burnt starter) an they did knock some money off the bill (although we had to ask them to do this). May be next time we will get a take away from there instead.

Oh dear. Well, this is pretty much the only curry house in the area, so we keep going back, more out of desperation than loyalty. Previously our experiences had been very similar to those described below, slow and inattentive service, and bog standard, if not downright awful food at the price.
HOWEVER, we've been back recently, and found it to be really quite good. Staff friendly and helpful. Food actually tasty, fresh and nice. I do hope they keep it up, but as someone remarked previously, the atmosphere in there is somewhat funereal; they need a re-furb to make it feel more cosy and intimate.

I first went to the 3 monkeys when they first opened and was not very impressed. I decided to try it again recently with a party of 4. My advice? If you like Indian food, or know anything about Indian food, then eat somewhere else. There were so many things wrong I don't know where to start but some of the issues were: the rack of lamb from the tandoor was burnt and so tough that we had to ask the chef to cut it from the bone, this took 15 minutes. Two main courses, including the one enjoyed by "Prince Charles and Princess Diana" were blandly awful, and tasted stale. My tandoori chicken was as tough as old boots (note to chef - use powdered mango seed in the marinade) Every other dish seemed to have been cooked with the same 4 or five spices and were almost identical. This restaurant claims to be Indian, but I have my doubts. All the dishes were pretty much typical of bad Pakistani or Bangladeshi food. No onions, garlic, fresh chillis, or any interesting spices were used in any of the dishes. Service lacklustre, lighting dim, atmosphere funereal. I'm sorry that I can't find anything good to say about this, but it was, quite simply the worst "Indian" meal I have ever eaten.

I ordered a home delivery. I was told it would be a 45 minute wait but it took 2 hours.
The food was in a lovely box and I thought it would taste fantastic as the resturant looks very nice and upmarket.
It was terrible. The coconut chutney was disgusting and I only ordered from the 3 monkeys as I usually love this from other places I have been to.
The curries were very runny and were far too hot. I ate a vegetable curry and there was only one carrot and 4 pieces of courgette slices in it. There was also lots of whole black peppercorns in which nearly blew your head off along with the other spices.
The meat roganjosh was just the same, hardly any meat just runny sauce.
The garlic naan had no flavour and the poppodoms tasted of oil.
The saag aloo was terrible and was not like any I had ever eaten before.
I wasted nearly 30 pounds on a meal for two and half of it was thrown away.
