We went there expecting real indian food, Oh god my local round the corner curry was far better, So bad i could not believe it . It was office christmas part, Our MD was booed for his awful choice. The service was slow and the cocktails was a mix of fruit pure' and gin. The starter was ok but did not send good signals about the main course, Once arrived it was cold and plain lentil with curry powder cooked by university student and the chicken tasted horrible.
Dont go there so expensive you better go round the corner for £ 1.50 curry .

We were down in London for a weekend to catch up with family.
We booked a take for 4 at Chutney Mary on Saturday. The surroundings were lovely and could not find fault. The waiters were efficient and attentive.
We ordered out Starter and Main Courses and were very disappointed with what we received. The lobster starter was deep fried in its shell. My husband nearly broke his teeth in the process! We were not warned. One of us had a chicken dish for the main course. We did not get Chicken breast but BROWN chicken meat.
The meal was a complete disaster for what we paid for the evening to dine there.
To spend over £220 for a meal for 4 I expect something I can go home and be content. I was very disappointed with the evening meal. I resent having o pay this much money for such awful cuisine. If I want to pay for ambience that is one thing but I expect to pay for good food, which clearly was not.
If restaurants such as this want to compete with the likes of Gordon Ramsey, they really need to serve decent food not rubbish brown chicken meat.
On top of that they charged 12.5% service charge!!! I feel i have been ripped off completely and if I could get my money back I would demand it!
I would not recommend anyone to dine at Chutney Mary.

We visited this very pleasant restaurant about a month ago and really enjoyed the experience. Although the portions were a little small the food was very tasty and of the highest quality. My wife and I took our son and three of his freinds and I were surprised to get away with such a modest bill. I thought considering the lovely evening we had all enjoyed and in particular the beautiful food it represented great value for money. My wife and I are looking for an excuse to go again even though it is a 140 mile round trip! GIVE it a TRY!

Seven of us had dinner here on Thursday 6th September for my boyfriends birthday.
After being shown to our table it seemed to take a long time for anyone to offer us drinks, once we'd ordered them though they were speedy enough.
This was pretty much the story throughout the whole evening.
It's the sort of place where the wine is kept out of your reach so unless they're on the case you have to keep getting up to refill your glass.
We weren't there to get drunk but it would have been impossible anyway, out of seven of us, five were drinking wine and we get through a wopping 2 bottles!
The wine which wasn't cheap was also not very chilled.
The food was I have to say average and nothing more, starters outshone the main courses none of which were very hot (temperature).
I eat fairly regularly at Masala Zone and I honestly think that the food is better.
Lastly I bought a birthday cake which they allow, a nice touch as some restaurants don't.
They wouldn't let me serve it with the dessert spakler i'd bought though as it was against their health and safety rules.
I didn't really mind that as what could I do but when I asked the waiter at the end if I could take the last piece away with me, he must have misheard me as he never returned with the cake.
I hope they enjoyed it!
I didn't complain on the night because it was a celebration and there wasn't anything really terrible about it. I just didn't feel that it was worth £50 per head.

Went to Chutney Mary with great expectations. The interior itself looks great with subtle lighting and relaxed cool atmosphere. Cocktail starters were great. However from then on it was downhill. Our starters arived with extreme haste - and it showed in the taste. The Paneer Kebab was bland and untextured. The chicken starter was also watery and uninspired. However we put this dissapointment behind us and awaited our main mean ( Lamp Chops and Main Taster Menu with anticipation). We were to continue being disapointed. The Lamb Chop was very tough and again extremley bland. The Main Taster Menu consisted of a handfull of spoon size portions which almost universally were unimaginative , insipid and again - suprising for an Indian resteraunt - bland and tasteless. The only dish that stood out in any way was the side dish of Saag/Palak with sweetcorn : this was just right , creamy , textrured , spicy and full of flavour. In addition the Roti and Nan were also good (though at the prices they charge £3 for a small Roti you would expact that in the very least). Desert was just about aceptable - but again very very small portions. Service was variable ( waiter forgot one of our deserts and we had to wait additionally for this). So ,overall , extremley poor food (mercifully in small portions as it turned out) with a high price tag - I wouldnt recomend this place if you want a genuine food experience (never mind a genuine Indian food experience).

Having recently visited Masala Zone where the food was out of this world, we decided to visit her sister restaurant on Friday.
What a disappointment! The vegatarian thali was not exciting and my partner's tandoori king prawns was bland. The side dish of stuffed baby aubergines was over spiced and drowned in a creamy sauce.
The best part of the meal was the coffee!!! The worst part of the meal was the £77 bill!!!! Overpriced & over rated!!

An elegant setting and attentive waiters made for a beautiful evening. Basket of potatoes with streetfood as a starter was fantastic, the vegetarian main spicy and really interesting. My partner had duck as a main and was she was very pleased with it being perfectly cooked. Bottle of house white wine was as expensive as the cheapest bottles on the extensive list so to pick one yourself would probably make sense. Desert was fantastic, espresso too hot. Including 12.5% service charge and tips we spend £91.00 and I feel it was thoroughly worth it.

Pretty much what you'd expect from a posh Indian restaurant in Chelsea - westernised dishes, small portions and outrageous prices. Having said that, the food was delicious and all the ingredients were fresh and cooked perfectly. It was an interesting experience and somewhere to go for a special occasion since the restaurant itself is lovely and has a good wine list. We had some 'fusion' type dishes like the curried lamb shank and mash, as well as a more traditional tasting methi chicken. All in all I'd say it was interesting and it was really popular with the locals, but I don't know if I'd go back. If you want a romantic evening in an elegant setting then this is the place, but if you want an authentic curry and not break the bank I'd go somewhere in Southall.

We went to Chutney Mary for the first time on saturday night for my partners birthday. The restaurant is set in a lovely part of chelsea and has very romantic and relaxing atmosphere. The food was very nice and fresh, although a overpriced for the amount that you got. The menu was a little disapointing to, however we did have a really nice time, just dont expect a great deal for your money and dont expect an Indian as you probably currently know it!
