Since when has it been the job of a waiter to join in with a tables 'jokes': at the expense of the poor staff you were mocking no doubt...

I have eaten at all of the branches of this chain and have never experienced anything less than good service and great food.

Masala Zone, Soho - recommended by a friend who accompanied me on Friday evening, but neither of us were braced for the lame service that awaited us...

The waitresses seemed pushy when asking us what we would like to order and interrupted the conversation more than once - quite rudely at that!

Anyway, after settling for a 'mango margarita', which was one of the few alcoholic drinks available, we managed to get some starters on the table.. Chatting away and eating, no sooner had a fork been put down, someone would swiftly come and remove the plate with, what I felt, was considerable pressure to hurry our meal and leave...!

The food was pretty mediocre; none of it had any real flavour and seemed batch produced - the chef had made little effort to check that it actually tasted ok.

I think the icing on the cake had to be the three, yes 3, staff members who:

1) Could not speak English properly - why employ people who cannot understand the needs of the customer..?

2) Could not take a joke nor join in British humour and actually responded very rudely to any banter;

3) Added a 10% service charge - which I thought was a complete nerve considering the bad service we had received.

The only reason we paid was to escape as quickly as possible and salvage the evening elsewhere.

I will not be returning there in a hurry!

Not happy with the food served to us at Veeraswamy myself and my wife jumped into a cab and came to masala zone, as soon as we walked in we were happily surprised with the authentic aroma's that greeted us.

Being of indian origin we both knew what good indian food smells like.

The food was alot more traditional than the stuff they serve at there flag ship restaurant which is exactly what we were hoping for.

Service was great, the staff were both friendly and warm.

Be warned though, we went on a monday night and the place was rammed and extremely noisey, not ideal for a romantic meal for 2!!

The bill amounted to less than £30 for the 2 of us.

Overall a good experience, so will be going back.

Very disappointing, sadly I think this si frequented by many people who see themselves as culturally aware and knowledgable of indian subcontinent food when they have no asian friends to really teach them anything. Had lots of Gujurati and Punjabi food for many years with friends and this is very much a theme type place. By placing the food on trays in Thalis making it look attractive it distracts from the distinctly average food, very disappointing.

In what way, exactly, could you draw comparrisons to Mc Donalds? Fresh food, presided over by one of Indias foremost culinary experts in a modern, fun setting with top notch service and a welome for regulars like myself?

This food reminds me of my home, it is very authentic, of course India is a big place, and Masala Zone could never be all encompassing; but what it sets out to do,it succeeds in doing: real Indian food at a reasonable price.

This was a fantastic place to dine with my family, Indians who were not disappointed with the food. My brother actually went back for a Second time to this place in a span of 5 days because "Its serves the best Biryani he has eaten" - I guess that means a whole lot since he lives in the BIG APPLE!

My parents like good food and are not fans of curry houses where the food is too spicy and floating in oil. Which was not the case here, the food was full of flavour and prepared fresh.

I would recommend the thali, as you get a selection of vegetables and currys.

All in all a nice place to go with the family.

Since the first time I stepped into this Place till..now..My experience has been WOW!!!!

I am always recommending this to all my friends(even the Picky onces liked it!!)

the decor and the amiance is great, the saff are polite and efficent in their work!!!

Only wish they did special discounts for regulars - as it seems I always end up there!!

The walls are amazing- the art is fantastic, for me though, it is the great food and service that keep me going back to this curry kingdom of heaven!

I'd go back again in a heartbeat, superbly flavoured food, great atmosphere and very informative and friendly staff who seem to really care that they've served you with a good meal.y Yes, the thali does not have the biggest portions in the world but at these prices I'm not complaing - just order it twice! Ok, I did buy a bag of chips an hour later.....
