We've been to this place twice and we love it! For the excellent food and the friendly, homely (albeit a posh home) atmosphere. Very good value for money, when compared against the other top of the line Indian restaurants in London.
The only place, incidentally, where I've seen romali roti on the menu (and they were extremely soft).
The dal here is amazing (if you're a fan of Bukhara in Delhi, this is the closest you'll get).
The service is also good. The last time we went (10 of us), the manager himself took our order and checked back with us regularly to find out if everything was all right.
Ask for a table downstairs.

My husband and I went to Vama's to celebrate my birthday and found the food quite disapointing. It is definately not worth the price and according to me they dont serve authentic Indian cuisine. I ordered for my starter Indian chaat Platter - most of the food was cold and definitley two items were stale. The main was alright but presentation was poor. The best was the dessert.
We always follow the time-out magazine rating and felt that this restaurant wasn’t genuinely rated.
I would certainly not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I write this review based on my many recent visits eating delicious and authentic food at Vama, The Indian Room.
Having been given a tour of the kitchen and the range of fresh spices and ingredients used, the results are impressive and reassuring.
We highly recommend the food at Vama.
Thank you

I have been to Vama with my friends couple of times.i found it one of the best Indian Restaurant in london and reminds me of food which i used to have back at home.Foods served at Vama is better than what I was expecting since I had tried many others. Comparing to other restaurants in london, Vama is in its own league.
Besides the food, the atmosphere was brilliant with charming staff that made me feel comfortable.

My partner and I were in Vama- The Indian Room last night. The restuarant lived up to its expectation as a award winning restaurant. I had the tandoori jhinga, and that is something that the rest of the Indian restaurants really don't know how to make. We tried their signature lamb chops, a delicious treat that you would want you going back there again and again.
I would recommend this to everyone in London looking to have great Indian food.!

Possibly the most disappointing meal of my life and that includes the New Forrest Little chef (family Holiday). Over complicated and un–authentic. I read all the reviews beforehand and should have taken heed. The staff made me feel like I know nothing and could not eat here without their help. As I have been a chef in the Capitol for the last 16 years I felt a bit aggrieved.

Very surprised by all the rave reviews from recent visitors. I tried Vama a couple of times in the last few months (summer and early autumn 2006) and was very disappointed. Frankly it's not a patch on what it used to be. The starter of Paneer was small and tasteless. Main course was a prawn thing, billed on the menu as "king prawn" which consisted of exactly the same fare you get in "street" Indian restaurants, eg, small deep freezer cheap prawns. Everything including the side dishes was uniformly bland and to be honest almost tasteless. Avoid - gone seriously downhill, but still huge prices.

My wife and I made a trip down to London recently and we were extremely pleased and delighted with the food, attention to detail, the level of service and the ambiennce of the Indian Rooms a credit to Andy and Arjun Vama and their staff. The food was a delight not your traditionla "burn your palate stuff and lets quench it with several Cobra beers style" but curries that you can taste and enjoy. Well done.
