Tried Vama after reading a lot of positive reviews. They were prompt in accepting reservations and we did not have to wait when we reached. The service was overbearing as we were asked our choice of drinks within 30 seconds of sitting, and by more than one waiter. This was repeated again when we were reading the dessert menu. The waitresses asked more than once if we were done with our meals, even though there was still plenty of food on the plates. The food itself was quite authentic although not particularly outstanding.

Hi

Although I am fortunate to enjoy a lot of restaurant dining in many parts of the world, I do not usually feel the need to contact restaurants after the event. But in this case I feel that I just have to say that the complete dining experience we enjoyed this Saturday evening at Vama, whilst visiting friends in the area, was truly exceptional. Although not vegetarians per-se, we do enjoy well prepared vegetarian food and so made it a vegetarian evening. Every aspect was faultless - welcome, ambience, staff, and of course the magical food.

We look forward eagerly to the chance to visit your restaurant again - in fact we are thinking of buying somewhere in the area just so that it can become a regular experience!

Congratulations to all at Vama,

I was at Vama last weekend as I have heard so much about it.

The restaurant exceeded my expectations, and I completely disagree with the previous reviews made by others.

We went there and and tried their signature Vama's Ma Di Daal, it was cooked to perfection. My wife is a vegetarian and she thought it was paradise. She had the patiala baingan, which is aubergine in tomato sauce but she couldn't stop oohing and aahing afterwards.

Had a marvellous time.

I went to Vama last weekend after a long time and was pleasently surprised by the refurbishments.

Another surprise was the change in the menu, at first I wasn't too pleased that they had changed it, but the new menu tastes even better than the old.

They actually had roomali roti which is very hard to find here in London.

My girlfriends favourite were the succulent lamb chops deliciously marinated in a chilli and garlic sauce.

I am even going back this weekend, there are a few things I had my eyes on last week. Definitely something to look forward to.

I was one of the couples who walked out on Valentines Day after 2hours had passed and me and my boyfriend had only been given starters. We arrived at 7 45, and chose to sit upstairs. We were the 2nd couple there and our first impressions were gd h/w as time went by the restaurant filled up and it became obvious that there was a lack of service with couples becoming increasingly annoyed. 2 couples had already left before us.. it would have helped the situation if the staff explained any reasons for this slow serviceI am unsure whether people downstairs were better served, it seemed as if the staff had forgotten there was an upstairs to the restaurant! On our way out a staff member from downstairs apologised and took our number promising to call us h/w we have received no such call from them. I believe this restaurant had potential but to be safe I would not recommend going to this restaurant for a special occasion

A Valentine to remember!!

Took my wife for valentines dinner who is 8 months pregnant. We had to walkout after waiting for one and a half hours without being served starters or

drinks. It wasn't just us before us 4 couples walked out. The waiters had no courtesy to explain what the problem was neither apologised for the slow service.

PATHETIC!! Never again, Cant really say how the food was as we did not eat!

I went to Vama with my girlfriend for a romantic meal which started brilliantly with some great startes and an ever so charming maitre d happy to suggest some of their signature dishes.

It then started to go downhill. We waited 45 mins for our main course which were served cold (and I mean cold). When we pointed this out the waitress very moodily and without apology took it away but left our dirty plates. No one apologised or offered us a drink and we waited another 20 minutes for our main meal.

The main meal was good but at £100 for two without wine you do not really expect that kind of service. Just an apology or an offer of a free glass of champagne would have been a better way to deal with it. The maitre d by the way studiously avoided us as throughout this incident as he was clearly so embarrassed

Anyway at the end of the meal we refused to pay the service charge and left a note for the maitre d saying that we were under impressed and that whilst of course mistakes happen they should consider apologising to the customer when it does. We also wrote saying that we were going to post our experiences on this website.

So Mr Owner if you are reading this I suggest you make sure that when mistakes happen an apology or a free drink is offered. People would expect this at their local £20 indian let alone allegedly one of the best Indian restaurants in London!

We've been to this place twice and we love it! For the excellent food and the friendly, homely (albeit a posh home) atmosphere. Very good value for money, when compared against the other top of the line Indian restaurants in London.

The only place, incidentally, where I've seen romali roti on the menu (and they were extremely soft).

The dal here is amazing (if you're a fan of Bukhara in Delhi, this is the closest you'll get).

The service is also good. The last time we went (10 of us), the manager himself took our order and checked back with us regularly to find out if everything was all right.

Ask for a table downstairs.
