L'Oranger

I hope l'Oranger never get their Michelin Star back. This place is a charm and is not pretentious and difficult to book as the likes of Petrus, Gordon Ramsay, Gavroche, etc.

The food was fabulous. Classic french dishes made with applomb and panache. The wine list extensive if a bit expensive. But I told the somelier that I was after something warm and spicy, like a Rhone fare and he recommended a wonderful Gigondas to us. He took his time to explain and share his passion about this wine and we really appreciated that.

On top of that, he also let us tried a couple of white (before the Red was ready) which was fabulous but we didn't know we actually had to pay for them.

In any case, to finish off the evening, we had a selection of cheeses which were just divine with the rest of the Gigondas.

All in all, a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend over any of the 2 stars French fare that dots London

After reading the reviews here, I decided to take the plunge and take my girlfriend here on her birthday yesterday.

Well I have to say, the reviews paint an accurate picture on what to expect. The food there was awesome, the best I have ever had at any restaurant. From the starters to the desert it was just a delight.

The service was great too. When I entered the restaurant I got a warm and friendly welcome and got offered to take our coats and then we were shown to our table. From the starters to the main course, it was all presented very nicely. As I made them aware from this website it was my girlfriend’s birthday, and it would be great if they could arrange a cake. When I took the chance to go to the restroom, one of the waiters approached me regarding how they should go about presenting the cake and asked for the name of my girlfriend. The waiter suggested that when it was desert time, he would bring the desert menu and then after we picked what we wanted, instead of bringing that, he would bring a small cake with a candle on it. I thought that was a great idea. In the end she got very surprised and loved the way it was all executed. The cake looked great and tasted even better.

All in all, a great night. Slightly on the expensive side, but in the end totally worth it. I am happy that we found this great restaurant and we have already agreed with my girlfriend to bring my mum here on her birthday. My mum is going to love it! Well done L'Oranger!

A great restaurant overall - best aspect being the food. The Lobster as the main was the best that I had ever had. Waiters were very friendly however it was unfortunate that we were overcharged on our bill, which we had to point out. The error was corrected immediately and an appology sent. Also the retaurant was a ittle too light - the atmosphere could have been perfect if the lights had been dimmed. Would defintely go there again.

Went to celebrate my wife's birthday............the starters were inviting............and the mains.........lamb, lobster and duck.............were delicious. Service was attentive and the food good value.

The wine list is extensive and expensive

This is one of the greatest restaurant in London, and if you're looking for a special to treat someone, this is the one ! Same as the previous reviewers: I will go back to L'oranger very very soon.

I've had a business dinner there (we even ate in the art gallery next door, they use it as private area) and I really enjoyed the evening ; food is simply fantastic ! it is a perfect place for a meal with colleagues at the end of a busy day ! I will return with my husband as soon as I can !

L'Oranger is a very very fine place to dine. The last time my husband and I went we were even offered an impromptu wine tasting which left us very merry indeed. The wine list is impressive and the food is simply wonderful!
