Terrible. The quality of food was cheap and low grade. Our meals were delivered sporatically and the waiters were dismissive and very, very rude. I will never be returning and I hope no one makes the mistake of suggesting this place as somewhere to entertain a business associate or client.

I've been here to the No. 1 brasserie before and something has definitely gone wrong since then. Prices are not more than you would expect to pay in such a location, the food is quite tasty when it finally arrives and the setting is sumptuous. Those are the nicest things you could say.
The fish soup starter was ok but the problems started with the main course. My vegetarian option arrived topped with bacon and had to be sent back. The correct order when it arrived was tasty but nothing extraordinary.
My dining companion's roast pork had a rind tough as old boots. The waiter's response when we pointed it out was to get him another knife. The waiter had also neglected to tell him the roast pork came with mashed potato so the side order of potatoes was basically wasted. Maybe no one had bothered to tell the waiter either?
Our puddings took 20 minutes to arrive leaving us looking at our watches. When asked, the waiter seemed puzzled and said it took 10 minutes anyway...anyway they did arrive and were pretty good. At least, the restaurant had the grace to deduct the cost of one of the puddings from the total bill.
The serving staff looked overworked and harried. This place needs to hire more wait staff and send them on a refresher course. Only the location and the proximity of so many fat expense accounts saves this place from bankruptcy.

Seated four of us on a tiny table then loaded the table up with huge outsized plates and vast glasses. Infuratingly the tiny gap between my chair and the next table was used as a motorway by service staff each one banging themselves and whatever they were carrying into me throughtout the meal. My shoulders are covered in bruises! Horrid apperatifs were served without asking whether they were required. Small overdressed portions. Chicken tasted plasticy. Vegatables fried to death. £50 per head without drinks is probably pretty standard in the City these days though.

Good lunch. Tuesday, packed, service quite slow but company was great so didn't notice it too much.
Good food, no complaints. Good lunch venue.

Went here with a group of friends on a Friday evening and had their 5 course special. The food was very tasty & beautifully presented. They have an impressive wine list too. The service was attentive & unobtrusive. Its a grand, spacious place that's great for groups, but wouldn't recommend it for a date.

This is definitely the place for a business luncheon or dinner, polite discreet service, amazing food and a great bar for after dinner drinks and discussion.
The desserts are also a delight, however do check if you have nut allergies as they do not disclose this info on the menu - but the staff are more than willing to assist.

Whether for breakfast, lunch, dinner or bar snacks, I have never failed to be delighted with the presentation and food. Truely original in a light and airy setting.

Awful, awful, awful. The mash potatoes were an absolute disgrace. Instant would have been better. When they were sent back (twice) it was met with disgusted looks from the service staff. In the end I gave up. I tried to negotiate getting them off the bill, but quite frankly I may as well have been hitting my head against a wall. The wrong drinks were made for us as well - as if it couldn't have gotten worse! This is an overpriced, over-hyped restaurant, with slow rude waiting staff to boot. AVOID!

I'm a vegetarian and No 1 is not Veggie friendly. However, I asked them to make a pasta dish for me just like A'rabiatta. They confessed that did not have chillies. so I suggested that I have pasta with some tomato sauce. I was gobsmacked when my boiled pasta arrived with a bottle of Heinz Ketchup!
Never again in my life....it's the name of the restaurant that attracts people, otherwise, the service, the atmosphere, the food and the price, it's all crap! They definitely need to change Management.
