Being a London born Gujurati, I think I`m in a good position to say that this is one of the best places in London that you will find AUTHENTIC vegetarian food using FRESH ingredients.
The Dahi Puris, mogo bhajias, tomato curry and bhaturas are 4 MUSTS!
Go there for the food and I promise you will not be disapointed.

My husband and I have been to Kastoori many times over the course of a year and a half - it's become our favorite restaurant in Tooting and even London! By far the best Indian food we've had. My husband was skeptical because it is strictly vegetarian, but we've found you don't miss the meat at all. The Dahi Puri is out of this world, the samosas have a little something special and their special bread - Kastoori Bhatura - is delicious. All the main dishes we've tried are fantastic, but they don't have all of them every day.
The staff is efficient and friendly, the owner makes you feel like you are part of the family and wonders when we don't come in for a couple of months. The decor is a lot better than many Indian restaurants, with real cloth napkins and tablecloths. Unfortunately, they don't deliver or we'd eat their food much more often!

Fantastic food in a pleasant restaurant, the decor is not as bad as people make out, in fact it has it's own unique charm (if you can get over the yellow table cloths). This is the best Indian food I can remember eating. The chilli paneer was extraordinarily tasty and the tomato curry alone is, as everyone says, worth the trip to this place.

A real gem of an indian restaurant. The food is wonderful, the staff are passionate about their dishes and are eager to tell you about them and help you make a choice, and considering the quality of meals the price is very reasonable. I recommend you choose several dishes so you can try as many as possible! The only thing which prohibits me giving the perfect score is that the decor is a bit jaded - but this is only a small niggle. I have been here 3 times and each time I've come away thinking this is one of the best restaurants in London.

Definitely one of the best restaurants in Tooting. I've been here with vegans, veggies and meaties and they've all loved it.
They have an extensive menu that is always filled with really unusual stuff. (You're right Al, the tomato curry rocks!) The staff are all really enthusiastic about their food and take the time to explain everything to you and let you know which dishes go well together.
The decor needs a serious update and it can be a little quiet, but the service and food more than make for this.

good food but very poor atmosphere.
value for money : not convenient. Average price 20-25 gbp.
the owner waits for your credit card right at the end of the dinner...or two minutes after.

My boyfriend is a huge fan of this restaurant and was constantly raving about the dahi puri they serve here. I went there for the first time last night, and the food was incredible! It totally surpassed my expectations and I would definitely go there again for the dahi puri alone! Helpful enthusiastic waiting staff and real value for money too...

A fantastic restaurant - always delicious with friendly attentive service and incredible value. I have been coming here for 20 years and never had anything but superb food that tastes like Indian food should.

Took my wife for lunch for the umpteenth time last Saturday. The quality just never falls. OK, so the decor isn't anything special, but it is definitely the best Indian vegetarian food in (south) London. The Kastoori Dal is as good as my own relations make at home. And we always end up taking an enlarged doggy bag home to enjoy the fresh chapati.

One of my favourite local area restaurants, this is a very different tasting type of indian cuisine with strong taste influences from the family-run owners who originally lived in Africa. Everything tastes quite unique and is very original. Mostly a quiet ambience and friendly staff.
