Have just driven through Tooting for obviously the first time in over a year and discovered the Kastoori is no more. It was my favourite restaurant. Am not happy.

London is officially not quite as good as it used to be.

A year on still can't believe the Kastoori is no more. Best little curry house in Tooting... London probably. Hope it comes back soon.

As usual, had a fantastic meal last night with very friendly service.

Then heard the awful news that Sunday could be their last day in business after 23 years.

Apparently, there has been a long running dispute with the owner of the building, which has culminated in the very real possibilty of this fabulous restarant closing.

In these days of so many restaurants serving bland, formulaic pap, it'd be a real tragedy if this unique gem were to go.

The owner said that they may open again elsewhere after a while so, I urge all Kastoori lovers to keep monitoring their website .

Went with a mate fairly late on Saturday night and had Thalis for two. Service was quick, and the food pretty darned good, although the pickles weren't to my liking, but they were olive heavy and I'm the sort who picks mine out and leaves them for someone else.

Anyhow, the Thalis (£9 each) were three curries, rice, three chapatis, and a poppadam. One of the curries was basically a sauce, good for flavouring the rice and dipping the poppadam into and quite flavourful, one a potato and tomato curry, and the third some of the best aubergine I've ever had in an Indian restaurant. Well worth visiting while we were in the area, but I think I'd have to order off the a la carte menu before saying it's worth making a special trip to Tooting Bec for.

Fantastic food, best Indian veggie in London. I'm not veggie but brought here by my old girlfriend, now I'm hooked. Reasonable price for extra special food.

Its my favourite Indian restaurant in London. The staff have always been very friendly when I've been there. The food is wonderful and is reasonably priced for the quality of the cooking.

Its unusual Indian food (in my experience) in that its vegetarian and it had a Ugandan edge to it. I like meat as mush as the next carnivore but I dont miss it all in Kastoori's food. The flavours are wonderful, the textures likewise particularly in the fanasttic starter Dahi Puri.

I went to Kastoori on Friday night. Its now Sunday and I have a real craving to go back there this evening. A great London restaurant.

Kastoori is a great vegetarian restaurant. We noticed the positive reviews on this website and decided to drive to Tooting for it.

We were warmly welcomed, and although we had not booked the staff freed up a table for us (it was very busy .. I will make a reservation first next time!).

The service was very personal, the sweet lassi was really nice and all food was very tasty (loved the tomato curry & puries!)
