I don't know what is all the rave about this restaurant. We went there on 8th of June, received a time slot for 7.30 and with the note to have leaft at 9.30 pm. We are from Switzerland, heavy travelling business people and used to good restaurants. First of all we were allocated one of the worst tables, the service was clinical and careless, the wine was lukewarm, the food (satays, chicken curry), nothing to be over the moon about - on the lower scale of average. In fact the satays were on the brink of not cooked through. We will certainly not going back. The only good thing - it wasn't expensive.

I don't know what all the wet knickers are about.
The atmosphere is the nicest thing about this restaurant. It has well designed decor, mellow lighting, buzzy conversation, and you can always find self-made men or minor celebrities among the diners. But some may find it a bit uptight and lacks privacy. It's got a bit of a 'be seen' attitude.
The food is okay, less greasy and more delicately flavoured compared to some other Pan-Asian restaurants. But not mind blowing. I had one dish that was made for superlatives.
And it's defintely slightly pricey. The price is all in the wine. Okay if you're tee-total. But if you like a drink with your food, you'll feel it in your wallet.
It is a competent, classy restaurant. But it doesn't excite me. If this was my local, I'd be a very uptight person.

the shrimp is to die for! It melts in your mouth. And it comes with a lime-and-chilly dip that i could almost drink, it was that good.
The staff have always been friendly.
A bit pricey.

I went to this place on the strength of Jay Rayner's review in the Observer and was really pleased I did. The food was so good I booked again on my way out.
The staff were approachable and the restaurant itself was very welcoming.

I had heard good things about E&O but nothing quite compares to the experience I had. The food, ambience and above all the service made it a fantastic and seamless evening - I've booked again to take clients to lunch already!

Fantastic evening! Probably the best meal i've had in London for years. Couldn't fault the service, food or atmosphere. Can't wait to get back to what is a real gem of a restaurant.

I had been looking forward to supper here the whole week. Cicada used to be a local fave but we now live too far away so thought we'd try the E&O after rave reviews from friends who live in the area. Chilli salt squid lacking in chilli and salt, soft shell crab tempura was uncooked in some parts, no ribs available til after 9.30 (?? - had they forgotten to put it in the oven?), the Singapore noodles had lumps of raw curry powder and the green tea ice cream was to sweet and creamy without the slightly bitter bite of good green tea ice cream. Maybe it was an off day for the kitchen. Will try 8over8 to see if its any better.

E&O has hit the top of my favourite top ten restaurants. We had the most wonderful meal there, absolutely nothing to fault the service, food or atmosphere, at the moment I could eat there every day. Make sure you book though as other reviews mention it is incredibly popular but worth a visit if not just for the salt and pepper squid to name but one

Great food and a nice eclectic setting.
We usually like to go there for lunch on weekends.
The service can be friendlier, trendy waiters with unecessary attitude.
