Oxo Tower Restaurant

As a person who regularly dines out, i had high expecations of The Oxo Tower, although i had heard both positive and negative reviews. Upon arrival we were greeted by a big smile from the reception team whom were both friendly and enthusastic and guided us promptly to our table. From that moment our dining experience only continued to be enhanced. Our waiter was extremely knowlegable and made us some suitable recommendations. The food was carefully constructed with lots of flavour and some very creative elements to it. The view takes your breath away even on the most rainy day. To sum up The Oxo Tower it is packed full of personality in comparison to other 'fine dining establishments' i have visited. The staff give this establishment the unique edge that make it stand out from the rest, in addition to the delicious food and amazing view!!!!!!! A wonderful experience that is worth every penny!!!

I did not think that London could look so beautiful! We fortunately were seated relatively close to the front of the room which allowed me to indulge myself in not only the wonderful atmosphere, but also in the beautiful architecture of London, especially with St Pauls lit up so splendidly - Even the waiter had a few things to say about Christopher Wren - pretty impressive!! We will definately be back to not jsut enjoy the best view of the river but also the amazing food and excellent informative service.

So i should start by saying Fantastic!!!!!!

Living in London for 6 years i have heard good and bad things said about the Oxo Tower so i decided to give it a go.

It was my mums 50th so wanted to make it special, we were given a round table that was right next to the window and what a view!

The food was excellent and the staff friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I started with a golden beetroot salad which was fresh and light and for my main the pollock with alsac bacon which was to die for!!!

When the desserts came out they had written Happy Birthday in choclate on my mums plate which was great!

My experience was amazing and my family commented that it had been one of the best lunches they had ever had i will definately be visiting again!!!!

Wow! Wow! and wow again!! My boyfriend took me took the OXO on Saturday for a lovely lunch, but what I did not expect was an absolutely huge fireworks display directly infront of us on the river to end the lord mayors show! It was the perfect end to what for me was perhhaps one the best lunches i have ever had. The friendly and very well informed staff, combined with fantastic autumnal (or should i say winter?) dishes was the perfect way to spend a relaxed weekend lunch. I'll be back, hopefully before next years fireworks!

I absolutely do not understand the reviews below as I have never been to the Restaurant and experienced anything other than amazing service. I enjoyed a business lunch there last week and am pleased to say my experience was the same. This restaurant is one of the few places where staff seem to genuinely enjoy their jobs! I am not surprised to be honest as working with that view alone must be amazing.

My starter of steak tartar was simple and delicious. This was followed with a seasonal favourite - guinea fowl. Nothing gives me more pleasure than eating game, drinking wine and sitting in somewhere warm looking out at the cold. This dish did not disappoint. The truffle bread sauce was heavenly, the perfect comfort dish. I am ashamed to say that as i often do, I used the fixed price menu as an excuse to indulge and cheese will always be my dessert of choice, a fine selection of English cheese.

£31.50 for the three courses i think is excellent value for money and I can't recommend it highly enough. A pleasure as always OXO thank you!

Although I've always been aware that this place had mixed reviews I have always fancied it and so though twould give it a go and make up my own mind.

Our table was booked for 8.30pm on a Wednesday night and when we arrived we were told to wait in the bar and the table would be ready shortly. We ordered a couple of cocktails to pass the time and admired the view. 20 minutes later we had to ask whether the table was ready as it was nearly 9pm and, excuse me for being old but I didn't want to be too late as it was a school night!

The service was not up to scratch at all. It took a while for us to order, there was about 45 minutes between starters and mains and then when themains did come, the waiter gave our vegetables to the table next to us but didn't realise until we mentioned it, new vegetables were ordered and then when they came we were dished a spoonful each thinking the remainder would be placed on the table for us to take as required but they were takeen and thrown away! We had to ask for more to be brought and no apology was given.

We would have liked desert and coffee but by this point it was nearly 11pm and we were too tired. We took the service off as didn't feel it was deserved and then had to explain why. When the bill comes to £150 for two people for starters and mains and one bottle of wine you expect the service to be good. It ruined the experience for us.

I haven't even talked about the food... It was good but nothing special despite the interesting sounding menu and definitely not worth the money. However, I wouldn't have minded had the whole experience been pleasurable. Unfortunately, the service let this down.

ATROCIOUS! My husband took me to The Oxo Tower restaurant for my birthday a couple of months ago. He had reserved a table for 9.30 - we arrived at 9.40 and were left, with no explanation or any offer of service (a drink for example!) until 10.30p.m when, after alot of hassling on our part, our table finally became ready - after asking for an explanation we were told they were "very busy at the moment". Right. Our starters did not arrive until after 11p.m and the wine we ordered only made an appearance after we'd asked for it twice. When our main course finally arrived at 11.30 (2 FULL hours after our table had been reserved), my husbands steak was overcooked, as were the mange tout. Afterwards I phoned the restaurant twice to complain - each time I was told ( they had my details and to expect something in the post to make up for the experience (don't forget this was my birthday they had managed to ruin) - nothing has ever been forthcoming. LOSERS.

We used to like the Oxo restaurant for the location and thought the food was reasonable. We just went last week and did not have a good time at all - the food was OK (although very expensive for what it is - value for money is very low) and the wine list was extensive as ever however the service was truly appalling - they took forever to take our order and forever to bring the food and we had barely finished our meal when we were asked to leave to accommodate the next sitting. To add insult to injury, they automatically add 12.5% service charge onto the bill and it's a big problem removing that. We will not be going back there anytime soon.
