I've been dining at Tsunami since 2001. The food is always served to the best. Sashimi's are always very fresh and nicely layed out. All the dishes are delicately served. Too bad they keep changing their menu and don't keep some of the dishes. I know that some of the dishes were specially created by the Chef, therefore i cannot find them in any other restaurant. Tsunami is definately one of the best Japanese restaurants that i've been to.

My girlfriend and I went on a Friday night. She'd been before but I live in Manchester so have only been used to Samsi and Sapporo Tepenyaki which are passable but, having now been to Tsunami, way behind the eight ball. There are certainly fusion elements to the menu - snow crab and prawn sui mai and, travelling further afield, foie gras and smoked eel sauce nori maki. This was one of the finest eating experiences I've had. I could not fault any aspect of the food. I also sampled the oyster tempura, scallops, sashimi and rare lamb with morels in a creamy but aromatic sauce with what I think are red/pink peppercorns but probably something more exotic. The other elements of our visit were all top notch but the food was so good that only a waiter with his genitals on display and a French accent could have ruined the experience. Even then...
I've also realised that I've used the word experience at least twice which is very unlike me. I'll start talk about 'journies' if I'm not careful. Certainly a mark of the mountainous and gratuitous excellence of the food.

We went there once and the food was really delicious.
The service is also good and the restaurant is modern and confortable.
During the weekend it was crowded and really noisy.

My boyfriend and I ate at Tsunami last night. This is the fourth time I have eaten here, and again we thought the food was fantastic. We started with the Edamame beans and scallaps, followed by the vegetable tempura and sashimi selection, and fininshed with the black cod (my boyfriends favourite dish) and the Scottish beef in pepper sauce (my favourite). I think the food is good value, although I have never been to places like Zuma or Nobu, I'm sure Tsuami is up there with the best in London. We also opted for the dessert selection which we haven't tried before, this arrived as 4 small dishes, each completely different and great if you want to try something different.
The only areas I think Tsunami could improve upon is the view from their large glass window at the front of the restaurant. If you're facing the window, your view includes a line of smokers and a row of parked cars - all they need to do is close the blinds.
Overall a great restaurant tucked away in Clapham, and I would highly recommend it.

Hugely disappointing experience!
After all the reviews was expecting a lot more. The Tempura batter was heavy, tasted incredibly bland in fact it tasted as if the oil needs changing, not a touch on Asakusa in Camden. Both the code and beef mains were similarly bland.
The scallops were lovely and the Sake was perfect. Service was good and attentive, but just so disappointed with food. And to those people who have been raving the cod, I don’t believe that you have eaten in Nobu!

The food always exceed our expectations. The black cod has nothing to envy Nobu´s, at half price (my only criticism is that they don´t do it at lunchtime). The tempura is light and delicious, and they master vegetables and meat too.
We tend to go once a month, never lets you down!

Faultless food (aubergine with sesame, black cod, tempura and the dessert platter were all fantastic) and excellent service. Ambience was informal and relaxed. The only weak point was the cocktail (lychee mojito) which was not very good at all.

It has has some ups and downs in the service department over the last few years, but as a local it is still hard to beat Tsunami for food quality and relative value for money. Criticisms of service appear to have been taken on board, and on my last three visits it has been hard to find fault with it.
It is a taste of Nobu and Zuma of comparable quality for at least half the price. Of course it is more low key than either in the fashion stakes (and the selection at Tsunami is more restrained), though I think the bland decor of Nobu (Met) puts Tsunami in at number 2, in any competition between the three for an all round great group dining experience.

This place is gorgeous, the food is divine and so well presented. I also had no issues with the staff and thought they were perfectly pleasant inspite of my pain in the arse bank deciding to do a security check as I was paying, holding up us from leaving for over half an hour. All very patient and understanding. Haven't been for a while, will be going back this evening as the blackened cod is calling me. Keep it up peeps!
