We were at the Bush on friday 22 june for a get together and we had an absolute ball.

The place seems way more relaxed and less stuck up than I remember, shows in the prices as well.

We were a table of 12 and I have to say after a couple of fab cocktails at the Bar (dear god please try the fresh passion..... unless you have an addictive personality;)) the food was just fab,

I (along with most of the table went a little "surf and Turf" and had Scallops to start and the ribeye for main, I got three lovely fat scallops (for 6.95) a bargain, and the 10oz ribeye was superb.

The main thing about the place is the service though, what a great bunch of staff they had there, nice mix of boys and girls all willing to have a laugh, but also we really did have exceptional service, all our starters arrived like clock work, then all our steaks, all cooked to order, all arrived together.

I think the place rocks. A great glam place, with the feel of a local, I will definately be going back

We have just got back from dinner there and I've been itching to write this.

It's a local restaurant that we have visited in all its machinations and have always really liked. We went back today for the first time in a year.

Oh dear.

The front of house bloke is charming, and in fact all the staff were pleasant and friendly. But the food?

I ordered scallops to start. I have to tell you now, I HAVE NEVER HAD A STARTER LIKE IT.

Three QUEEN scallops about a centimetre wide appeared with a load of rocket in the middle. I couldn't quite get my head round it (you know how you always think it's you who's got it wrong somehow). I immediately ordered some bread to go with it to bulk it up. The scallops were so small I could hardly taste them. They were served with their coral and I think they did this because they were so small the coral would have been impossible to prise away without completely ruining the rest of the meat. How bizzare.

The nice Maitre d' came over and asked how everything was and I told him that I had never had a three queen scallop starter in my life for £6.95 and he assured me they were king. I assured him they weren't and he said he's find out from the kitchen. Suffice to say he never returned.

Onto the mains.

My partner ordered the rib eye MEDIUM (I know, sacrilege. But she wont eat it red) and it came RARE. That's two notches down from medium. The bernaise sauce had started to separate and was almost completely cold. The chips were slightly soggy. The spinach and pine nut salad was just a load of leaves tossed in what I think was groundnut or sunflower oil, and they hadn't even bothered to toast the pine nuts. An appalling main course. My lamb was fine although they used old frozen peas in the bean accompaniment.

We cut our losses at that point and got out.

Not before settling a bill where they had charger £2.75 for the bread I had ordered to bulk out the most ridiculous starter I have ever been served.

As we walked home we stopped at Chez Kristoff to work out how much more we would have had to pay to have an equivalent meal there (our total bill at Bush was £70 - that's 2 courses each and two glasses of wine) and it was a matter of a fiver. That for a place whose standards are exemplary.

It's a shame to say but I won't be going back to the Bush Bar. We're lucky that there are a number of places around here where £70 will get you a lovely meal, skillfully cooked. About a quarter of the tables were taken, and I think I know why now.

I been tonight with a friend, the place look so good, lot of space for the dinners and the bar, we really enjoy the meals, excpetially the seabass that was fantastic, the only bad thing it's been the wine, we had the pinot grigio that was really tasteless, for the rest everything it's been perfect.

Hopelly for our next visit they will change the wine.

just enjoyed a top class meal here and although this is something i dont normally do i thought it was only fair to comment after the last couple of reviews.rack of lamb cooked to perfection, great sauce and stunning deserts, our table of five were all left bowled over with our food.my only reservation was the service could have been a bit faster but other than that a top class night

I love this place as a bar, but my first time eating there was a disaster. We ordered cocktails first, and then a starter. The rather sarcastic waitress brought the wrong starters - and when we had the right ones we had finished them by the time the cocktails arrived (they had been sitting on the bar for at least 10 minutes). Once we had finished the cocktails there was no offer of another drink/ the wine list etc.

The mains then arrived almost immediately after the starter, with the wrong side dishes and the strangest rabbit I have ever tasted (it had the taste, colour and consistency of a chicken breast, although Miserable Waitress swore it was rabbit), drenched in a rather floury cream sauce.

I will still go back to the bar, but they need to make some serious improvements to the restaurant before I'd consider eating there again - mainly the service. (In fact the only thing I dislike about the bar is that the staff are all male, slimy with female customers and quite dismissive of male ones).

Could do much, much better.

on a much planned birthday dinner bush bar was a all round good choice or so i thought for value and atmosphere as i had been before and it was ok and location suited all. on my 2nd visit on saturday i left the restaurant in tears. `the service is not renowned and my party of ten and i were unfortunate enough to have the rudest most unpleasant waitress i have ever encountered not what you want when your celebrating for a birthday ,top it off they had no potato dishes other than very fatty deep fried chips. cheap tasting steak with little seasoning yet it was the most expensive on the menu on a 8.30 sitting on a saturday night running out of food is not acceptable. i will never again visit this restaurant and have passed my comments to its owners. its a shame as i regularly visit a very good hotel nearby and bush bar was a handy food option.
