I have heard a lot of good things about this restaurant & was quite eager to try it out.

My girlfriend took me there for a birthday lunch on Saturday, I was not dissapointed.

Really fantastic food, good service, attentive without being over the top.

I would definitely recommend La Trompette for any occasion.

Looking forward to my next visit.

We probably visit La Trompette about a dozen times a year and have done for several years now. It is certainly our favourite London restaurant and we no longer bother with any of the glitzier joints in central London.

The room may be unremarkable but it is extremely comfortable, the staff are always delightful without a trace of over-familiarity, and the food is absolutely superb. Maybe we do have to wait some time between courses, but who wants to be rushed through a meal as good as this?

Had a late table booked for 9.30pm one Saturday evening. Went with a friend with whom I have been going to all London's michelin star restaurants as a fortnightly treat. I have to say that La Trompette is easily in my top 3. Far better than Clarridges and more recently the Square. The atmosphere was lively and friendly. The restaurant is very unassuming. The wine list is extensive without being intimidating. The service is excellent and the food perfect! Probably one of the most inexpensive restaurants I have frequented aswell. Very happy with my evening at La Trompette and have already two more reservations booked there. Highly Recommended!

My wife and I have been to La Trompette, twice now, opting for an early table at 6.30pm on a Saturday. Both times the service has been excellent, friendly, helpful and hospitable with a total lack of pretension.

I believe La Trompete is good value for money, if you are used to eating out and want quality and honest French food. The seared tuna and rabbit ravioli starters were both wonderful. (The rabbit ravioli very filling - a very decent sized portion)

My lamb main course was perfection with really fresh, lightly cooked vegetables. I also recommend the strawberry and vanilla panna cotta and the apricot and almond tart with jersey cream - both so light and a perfect end to a great meal.

Well done, La Trompette - we'll be back again.

A terrible night. The food was adequate but the massive delays ruined our second wedding anniversary. Not what you expect for £180 for 2 people

I've lived locally since 1989 and have really dedicated to La Trompette. The food is simply very good, reasonably priced and I'm told the wine list is great. My issue is dead simple: I booked and ran late, coming from the Opera House with two Royal Ballets members. We rang in regularly, explaining we were behind but the Eastern European staff member encouraged us to continue-this was entirely their error. When we got there, all our several coats were taken and we were moving to a table when the French manageress stormed up to us, refused us the table, forced us to our coats and ejected us. I said we'd warned 3+ times en route, were only 5 minutes over time as it turned out (itself unspecified until then) and she relented (!) by offering the three of use "a little cheese". In effect, we were thrown out late on a Bank Holiday, humiliated in front of a restaurant plainly still 100% in full swing and the staff refused to admit their own complicity in having created the entire problem. We could have eaten late easily in Covent Garden at Sheekeys or elsewhere as Royal Ballet folk get respect, especially post a first night. In W4, you get shown a wet street, your coat handed back and frankly offensive passive aggressive abuse from the manageress. I wrote carefully to Bruce Poole but his now being a rich, important restauranteur, he wrote a pretty offhand and vague reply. That's what you get being a regular of his from Day 1. Good on you, Bruce...

Superb. Better atmosphere than Chez Bruce and more relaxed that the Ledbury. I had a really good time.

The rabbit ravioli was excellent, as was my girlfriend's foie gras and chicken liver pate with brioche. Both the veal and the lamb as main courses were also very good and the sommelier chose a wonderful £40 bottle of Chilean organic red to accompany them.

I will definitely go again and am looking forward to the rabbit ravioli already.

Having visited Chez Bruce on a number of occasions and on hearing La Trompette was closely affiliated we decided to pay a visit this Sunday for lunch.

I am pleased to say that the restaurant definitely lived up to the high standards of Chez Bruce; in fact it managed to pip it at the post.

Firstly the food was second to none - foie gras parfait was truly spectacular, better than Gordon Ramsay, Claridges, Waterside Inn by example. We also enjoyed a very good sea bass starter accompanied by mussels and samphire. This was followed by a rare and tender rib of beef with horseradish cream and a shoulder of lamb with dauphinois potatoes, the lamb being slightly better, but that may just be a matter of opinion. Both were excellent none the less. I had cheese to finish – the stilton was a little disappointing when comparing it to the quality of the French cheeses that I sampled which were some of the best I have ever had, but this is only if I am pushed to pass criticism. My partners apple crumble was also good but as he explained wasn’t as outstanding as the rest of his meal.

The staff were extremely accommodating and not snobby as I had feared they may be. The setting is a lot better than Chez Bruce and you definitely felt less closed in.

To summarise we paid £29.00 a head for three courses + £5.00 supplement for the cheese which was an absolute steal, the wine list is extensive but still manages to include some very reasonable selections; we opted for a 2001 Chianti Classico (£28.00). When you compare it to other restaurants that charge three times the amount of La Trompette you know having left that you haven’t just eaten fantastic food, you have eaten fantastic food that hasn’t cost you the earth – extremely rare nowadays! I just wish it wasn’t’ so far out. I almost feel like moving to Chiswick to be able to visit more often!

The food here is as good as you would get in France, the bunny I had was sublime. It does however suffer from a slightly pompous atmosphere, you kind of feel a little out of place as an ordinary Joe going for a slap up meal with your girl. Yes the service is slow, yes it is FULL of hurray henrys but the food is very very good. So if your someone who actually works for a living, rather than living off of daddy money, you'll walk out with a greater distain for the middle classes but a rather nice feeling in your belly, which is why you went in the first place.

I was lucky enough o be taken there on 17th April and cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.

The food was absolutely superb. It is so rare to have three courses and enjoy each of them all as much as I did. I had the warm duck salad, which was a triumph with its celeriac remoulade, however the dish that followed managed to be even better; the steamed cod was fantastic. The crisp fennel and baby artichokes set it off beautifully.

On the night the time lapsed between courses was unusually slow and clearly they were very busy however due to the attentiveness of the staff this really didn't matter a jot. The manager came over to apologise before we had even felt the inclination to say anything.

The atmosphere, the food, the really reasonable bill and the service; La Trompette and its’ team is the perfect example of the real meaning of hospitality.
