Aperitivo

I went to this restaurant last Friday with a large group from work and had a great time; the restaurant was very busy and had a great atmosphere.

The food was just fantastic and great for sharing. They had a good selection of wines and our waitress was very knowledgeable and made some great recommendations.

What can I say great food, great service and a great atmosphere!

I would recommend it to anyone.

Some reviewers called the food awful, terrible or crap. I wonder if they ate at the same place that 4 family members and I had dinner. We found English is Italian unique, the food excellent and the personnal engaging and very helpful. As for the size of the portions, we generally ran out of stomach room before we ran out of food. Every dish was tasty, well prepared and presented, and certainly different. We're looking forward to eating there again.

Terrible bar! This place is neither a bar nor a restaurant. The service is slow to non existent. Is it possible to find a waitperson who can speak English. Even the female manager couldn't understand me, I had to repeat myself several toimes. The staff all congregate around the bar and it is extremely smokey. i suppose English isn't her only problem.

We had the chicken, which was so obviously microwaved, ready in 2 minutes. Lamb cutlets were very well cooked, i kind of like them rare. The antipasto platter smelt like it hadn't been washed for a week. the sorbet, must of been sitting in the fridge to long as it had an unusual texture. There was a big group of people just having drinks all night, being very loud and obnoxiuos.

The good point was that we were out of there in 40 minutes.

Avoid this place!

this place is more like a bar, very rowdy crowd, noisy and smokey. The service is terrible and there was at least 5 items not on the menu.

Although the food at Aperitivo looked very good the resturant has no none smoking section and is quite small. When we went smoke pervaded every part of the resturant and it was so unpleasant we left.

So if you don't like smoking don't go - this resturant needs to get with the times and ban smoking.

I have been here a couple of times recently, both times with a small group of girlfriends. Great ambience, good selection of dishes, although not cheap. I have, however, found the food to be of a pretty high standard. On my last visit the food was particularly good, although I do agree with the artichoke salad comment. The mozzeralla with the fig centre is great, as is that stange herby poppadom thingy you get to munch on whilst pondering the menue.

Good place to go for food pre- theatre/night out etc. Nice staff!

I have been going back to Aperitivo consistantly for several years now. The lamb cutlets are sensational. They have just added an A Grade fillet of beef with Porcini mushrooms, which is sensational. The grilled prawns wrapped in bacon is always good. I sometimes order the calamari fritti but I know what to expect.

I couldn't believe the previous comments so I thought that I would mention something. Maybe they don't know how to order lovely Italian cuisine. It is not a curry house!

I actually had my company's Christmas Party there and my staff are still talking about it.

I agree with the person who said the food was stodgy and greasy. Its not that it is bad but it is nothing great it has to be said. But at these prices what do we expect. The service is very friendly and the ambiance is very inviting. But the food just didn't do it for me. Great concept but relatively poor food to be honest. I had some aubergine parmaesan dish, and it was OK, but completely drenched in olive oil and did not taste fresh. The artichoke salad was ridiculous!! - a few green leaves and 3 tiny tiny pieces of artichoke - we sent that one back and refused to pay. Nevermind - live and learn!
