I think this place is taking the monkeys.
Firstly, there is a large photo of God Ganesh on display. However, after opening the menu we were shocked to see beef being served. That should be illegal. We told them that we were going to pay for the drinks and leave as a result of beef being served. One of the waiters were quick to reply by saying all our food is halal. Why would we care if we are Hindu.
Secondly, the menu seemed to be as if from Bengal. The food is very different from main land India.
Thirdly and most importantly the coke was imported and taste like cola.. Why? To save a few pennies yet still charge £1.50.
Fourthly we were the only ppl apart from the staff and it was 7pm on Sunday.
The place should be shut down.

What a find. Finally some place we can eat before a gig at the Apollo. Decor was much better than your average blati house (next time we'll sit in the back in the nice bit) and service was friendly, if a little disorganized. The food was excellent. Best Jalfrezi, hands down. Also the dark lentils were something I had not tried before and will get again next time we go. All your favourites are on the menu, as well as some more interesting dishes. A nice change from the usual lacklustre eateries in the area.

On a very cold Friday night in London we came upon Chula in King Street, Hammersmith. And what a pleasant break from the bog standard decor this place is.
Whilst the exterior is cool and dark (which, I must say, makes it a little hard to spot on a dark night).... the interior is a mixture of cool creamy walls in stark crisp lines, gorgeous with red uplights, beautifully stained oak floors and dark, cosy, stretch yourself out booths.
We piled into one of the stretch me out booths and took a bit of time rearranging ourselves.... and while one of our party complained and moaned (he's very tall and found it difficult to sit in a lotus position!) the rest of us were happy to give it a go.
We ordered pappadams and chutneys to keep ourselves occupied while our orders came.... some red wine (a passable French Merlot) and water.
The menu was very interesting and a definite step away from what we were used to. So we tried the Lamb Shank (a nice combination of fresh ginger, lemon and spices), the North Indian Garlic Chili Chicken (a good dish, but nothing distinct that excited), Keebab (lovely lamb all mixed in with onions and spices... nice, if a little hot for tender tastebuds).... various rices, naans and vegetable dishes.
While the food was good and freshly made with good herbs and spices, it didn't stand out.
I'd be happy to return here for the atmosphere and the good service, and a fair meal. Plus it was good value at £22 a head for all that we ate (and there was a lot of food) plus two bottles of wine and spring water.

Excellent food and top class service. I had a Dansak, which is my favourite and it was 100% perfect. My husband had the Seafood Jhol, which he loved. I'm not usually crazy about fish curries but after sampling his I could definitely order the Jhol next time (not too fishy). We visited the restaurant at 5.30pm on a Sunday so it was pretty quiet. I can imagine it would be buzzing on a Friday/Saturday night. Novel concept having a bar there as well.
