Twelve friends and I booked a table at this resturant for our annual get together and it was the most disappointing meal we have yet had.
The meu was exremely limited; we were told on arrival that 4 dishes were now 'off', leaving precious little to choose from.
My food came quickly but was quite unremarkable- a reasonable Eggs Benedict but tasteless (if quite generous) Cesar salad (a most odd combination forced by the shortcomings of the menu) with limp lettuce were followed by a pear and almond tart, which was heavy, tastless and a real chore to eat. Others in my party had butternut squash soup as a starter (said to be quite acceptable), followed by very average and oddly oily salmon (and rather mean, size-wise), served on a bed of grey-green coloured mash, which offputtingly (and i guess intentionally) had large pieces of potato skin in it. The chocolate brownie was rather dry and dull, saved only by a nice but almost microscopic scoop of ice cream, while the creme brule proved unremarkable.
The place promises so much from the outside but indoors has an odd atmosphere; it is rather dark and slightly echoy. The staff while friendly, are ill-trained. The hapless wine waiter tried his best, but repeatedly managed to get almost as much wine on the tablecloth as he did in the glass.
My main gripe is really that although we had booked for a sizeable party, no one bothered to let us know that much of the menu was unavailable. By the time we arrived, it was just too late to change.

Named in honor of Admiral Nelson back in the days when food was expensive and inedible - Admiralty holds true to it's values.
Truly shocking, appalling food from over cooked lamb to the the worst salmon I've tasted years. The food arrived quickly and thank god because it meant we could leave fast. What is the chef doing. It was like mass catering at a really down market event.
The room itself is shabby, dilapidated and somehow manages to look like a badly configured function room. We had our coffee at the cafe outside to get over it all and honestly if you do find yourself at Somerset House then stick to the cafe.
