Three of us had a great lunch overlooking a rather bleak Thames.

Excellent value and delightful staff, as well as well cooked and tasty food in a good atmosphere.

Definitely worth another visit, perhaps in the evening (instead of going to Sonny's?).

Very limited menu. Inattentive and unhelpful waiting staff. "Fresh" fish returned almost uneaten. Shepherd's pie with little meat and haddock with leeks had almost no leeks but lots of overcooked potatoes which were not mentioned on the menu nor by the waiters, so we ordered extra potatoes. Very overpriced. We will not return.

We booked and requested a nice table by the window as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Upon arrival we were given a table between the wall and the check-in desk. We were told that they cannot guarantee specific tables and that everyone else ahead of us was also celebrating - on a Wednesday night at 8.30pm? I suspect not. We were not offered a different table or even a round of drinks on the house to make up for this - despite there being a table for 6 available by the window - presumably 'guaranteed' for someone else?!

The attitude of staff was not in the least conciliatory and we left, safe in the knowledge that Barnes has a lot of nice restaurants. I hope The Depot realises that its service ratings across the board are so much lower than the rest of its ratings and does not allow this to continue. They are up against some stiff competition.

I moved to Barnes recently and had heard about the Depot quite a bit.

Having been there today, I was quite disappointed. We reached there at 7PM, with no other guest in the restaurant. The staff, was very condescending, and responded to our request to seat us with a view by giving us a very odd seat. I appreciate that we had a baby & stroller with us, but that is why we try to beat the traffic and prefer to eat on a Sunday night and not Fri/ Sat. It was strange, how the waiters were talking loudly between themselves, but were bothered by our little one playing with her toys.

The food was okay. I ordered the fish cake that was decent.

Overall, I am disappointed with both service and food.

A rare treat for Barnes - a restaurant which is actually on the river. Although this postcode is half encircled by it, a disappointingly large amount of the waterfront is given over to traffic-laden roads running alongside non-nonsense, view-killing flood defence walls or to school playing fields and other green spaces. For instance, and digressing, I never feel like I'm on the river when I'm sitting upstairs at the Barnes 'Strada', and yet this is one of the more on-the-water places to eat there.

The Depot however has the unique selling point of being right up against the tow path. If you pick a table on that side, you can look out at the water as curves round towards Mortlake. It's spacious too - a Victorian warehouse with a sanitised courtyard at the front and lots of internal arches so that the space is broken up into cosy zones. It's got plenty of fume-free outdoor seating in the courtyard at the front too.

I liked the bar, but was shocked to see how few draught options it had. Just one, I think.

The staff were helpful and competent and the menu was interesting. Not that much for me, but then I don't eat meat..

Prices were a bit high - especially considering it was lunch and the place was very empty. I wouldn't go back there unless it was for an early bird offer or someone else was paying. Portion sizes were a tad mingy too, but I gobbled down my crisply-fried fishcakes in a yummy caper-laced sauce.
