I-Thai at The Hempel

We were quite dissapointed by I-Thai. Trying out a new place, the entrance of the hotel was very impressive and we really liked the decor of the restaurant, but unfortunately that's where it ended. The food was really quite mediocre which at these prices is not really acceptable and they were very nice, but it was quite slow (and I am not one for being rushed). The fusion part of the menu is simply the fact that you can choose to eat italian, japanese or thai - there is no real fusion option to take. Unfortunately, we turned our expectations from a 'special evening' into a 'simple meal' pretty quickly after we'd had the starters.

I was slightly disappointed by this place after having heard such nice things about it. The Hempel hotel is absolutely beautiful, and so is the restaurant - zen asian style- but it was half empty, so there is a bit of a lack of ambience. The food was good but not amazing, particularly given that the price is equivalent to what you would pay for much more refine food in some other places. Moreover we had to wait 45 minutes for the starter and 35 minutes for the main course! I hate being rushed, but this was really too slow...

Top class restaurant. Everything from the service to the food was first class and you really couldn’t ask for more.
It’s quite hard to find as the restaurant is located in the Hotel Temple which is actually quite hidden away, however I think this simply adds to its exclusivity. Me and my girlfriend arrived and were escorted down to the restaurant by the porter.
We were seated and within seconds we had two waiters fussing over us. To say that we were pampered would be an understatement, the service was fantastic.
The food was delicious and I highly recommend the Thai fish cakes for starters.
We will definitely be returning…once my wallet has had time to recover ! !

Hi,
My boyfriend and I went to I-Thai last Saturday and everything was perfect. The food was amazing! Their menu is very eclectic and the food is one of the best I ever had in London. I strongly recommend the Foie-gras and caviar maki.
In regard to the service, I really appreciated the attention they gave to us and don't have any complains.
Cheers,
-Rebeca

I read the reviews and was excited yippie i found a resturant that was Thai with slice of Italian exactly what we were both looking for.
Beautiful decor and the reception staff were excellent, however we got seated ordered I had the lamb and what came back was the smallest cutlet I have ever seen and a row of carrots and they wanted £24.00.
My hubby had curry which was good but he kept asking where the rest of my food was...
The male head waiter thought he was a celebrity and looked bemused when he asked if all was well and i asked where the rest of the food was...
Not to mention we waited nearly 2 hours for 2 courses, when the bill came I requested the service charge be taken off and stressed I would never darken the doors again....
Stylish decor shame about the waiter who was a bit above his station...
Left very disppointed and really hungry..
