My partner and I had dinner at L’Aventure on Saturday night. We were lucky enough to get a table outside and with the beautiful weather; our evening couldn’t have been more perfect. Drinking good French wine under their blossoming, fairy lights decorated trees while enjoying our meals was simply magnificent. The service was excellent. I would recommend it to any couple seeking a romantic night out. Oh, and, do yourself a favour; have the Crème Brule for dessert. It’s the BEST!!!!

There is no rest worth its food, atmosphere and money in London and Paris that my husband and havent been.
L'Aventure will win over and over the best Oscars there is. I think it is also time to start this for best restr. Am all 10 fingers up for you.
You keep going back for lunch and dinner and the services is superb. No where else beats this in london, not even in the private members' only restr. Sometimes I feel the chef here should be sub hired to other other restr for them to taste and see that its not about money.
I am ever so proud to take my friends- day or night to this restr. I loveee ittttt!!!!

My boyfriend and I recently dined at this wonderful restaurant!
This is my favourite french restaurant in london.
The food is very very good, and the atmosphere is so romantic!
We always have a great time in this restaurant.

A recent trip to L'Aenture resulted in a extremely high bill, for a meal that took for ever to come and whose propriator's behaviour was appaulling. The starters took 45 mins to arrive with only 4 other people in the restaurant at this stage. The owner at one stage was going out to get something from the shops and was still talking to someone downstairs whilst
almost at the door of the restaurant - forgetting she was walking through the restaurant not her sitting room. The restaurant was soon full and it is a very small space to the point of having to ensure that you speak quietly so as not to disturb those next to you. When a table started to smoke the whole room soon filled with smoke - my husband politely said to her 'doesn't it upset her to have her delicious food spoilt by the smell of smoke' to which she threw her arms up exclaimed monsieur and flounced off! She may think it acceptable in her country of origin but we have been going since she started but no longer! This is not a restaurant in which it is possible to have non smoking tables and she has now lost yet more customers to her policy and her attitude.

I must say that I am a fussy person and reading some of the reviews I was not sure what to expect.
Well after my visit on Saturday (11/2/06) I must say that this restaurant is one of the best I have eaten in.
In France the standards are very high, so in my experience then you go to a nice place in France to eat 9 times out of 10 you will get a great meal.
In England, I feel it is always hit and miss in the French Restaurants I have been to. Well, this place is a hit and the staff just great.
The menu is in French, but you can make it out if you know a little and the staff were always at hand to help.
It is not a big place, so space is limited, but it was very cosy and the atmosphere was just right.
The Wine list was very good and my girlfriend picked out the right one to go with our meal.
I am a professional cook myself, and the standards here are very high and the flavours of the food just make you want to ask for more and more.
Will be going again and another good point was that the price was reasonable.

My girlfriend and I have been to L'Aventure quite a few times before and after the previous reviews about the non-chalant waitress. And I have to admit that since she left, the service has improved likewise.
In the end, this remains our favourite French restaurant in London. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is extremely romantic. A charming place for couples or even family dinners. Strongly recommended despite the price, which can hurt the wallet is you are not careful with the wine. Worth every penny for the food at least!

I realise my previous probably required some editing so if you would prefer an edited version please see below:
Visited Valentines this year and was chosen because highly recommended by a colleague and virtually neighbours as live near. We were greeted instantly by a waitress with attitude who was nonchalant and brusque clattering cutlery on our table, for a bill of £120 with service charge I was expecting the service to at least be effortless. The food was pleasant enough but average. Menu in French is a nice touch but when she bristled over a slight translation required it just made it seem pretentious and asking for bread plates we were told there were none left. I’ve had a few great meals at the Ivy for a lesser price with fantastic service. A real shame because it tainted what was meant to be a romantic night.

L'aventura, off the Abbey Road
My boyfriend took me this year on valentines Day and I chose it particularly because we live in NW8 so perfect to just walk around the corner and it came highly recommended by a colleague at work. The food was pleasant enough but the service was absolutely shocking mainly due to the treatment of the youngest female waitress (a lady who appeared to be the maitre'd was pleasant to us but was busying herself with her regulars). The first impression was not good, we were greeted instantly with an attitude by this waitress who whereupon not understanding my name I repeated it 3 times, then she condescendingly asked me if I was sure that it was in fact my actual name. Her behaviour was entirely nonchalant and clattered cutlerly on our table because she wasn't looking at what she was doing. Considering the bill with service charge was approx £120 for a 2 course meal with wine, I was expecting the service to at least be effortless. The menu being in French perhaps is a nice touch but my boyfriend thought when she bristled over a slight translation it just in fact made it seem a bit pretentious. Upon asking for bread plates that weren't there rather than eat our bread from the table she advised there were none left. Maybe a slight oversight on their part on a busy evening but already the list was totting up and beginning to very much taint the night.
I was embarrased at having picked the restaurant particularly because it was my boyfriend's treat. He is a chef and was appalled. To be fair I had a very enjoyable steak but my boyfriend thought his lamb chops were average considering it's not that hard to get them wrong. I was hoping to enjoy a nice, romantic dinner but sadly that did not happen. I've had a few amazing meals in the Ivy at a much less price and the service has always been effortless. Quite frankly the ordeal has put us off forever and a real shame considering so conveniently local. The the prices charged do not reflect the food nor the service.

I’d like to say don’t go here because the food is bad, but I can’t. I’d like to say don’t go here because the service is awful and non-attentive, but I can’t. I’d like to say don’t go here because the wines are poor quality, but I can’t even do that. The only reason I can say don’t go here is because L’Aventure is a gem of a restaurant, a most amazing experience and I want to keep it all to myself.
