L'Aventure

We ate at L'Aventure for the first time tonight. The food and service were first class. It's classic french cuisine executed extremely well. It began with an 'amuse bouche' of quail's egg and strands of fried leek. I had a crab and avocado combination for the first course - delicious - followed by a superb rib of veal and a tarte tatin for dessert to die for. The overall feel is traditional, charming french food and service. Highly recommended.

Been to this resataurant several times if it was a walk from our place rather than a 15 min taxi ride would def go more.
Very good service, charming and intimate room serving the french favourites we all like , escargots done in a feuilete, chicken with morilles etc.
Nice puds.
Having read the last review I have to say I have only seen the owner be warm and friendly to her regulars so this seems bizarre.
Recommended for reliable non haute cusine french food in a very romantic setting.

I decided to do something to impressed my boyfriend's birthday .
Going to L'aventure restaurant definetly that was in my point of view an Aventure by itself , but really it was the worst Aventure I have never had in my life .....
Everything started by the welcoming of a Spooky old ginger woman who we understood at the end of this bad experience was the owner of this place ...
I've speacialy insisted when I did the reservation that it was a special occasion and I wanted the most romantic table and I pre-organise a Birthday cake and everything else ...
At my big surprise when we arrived this special woman was so surprised about our venue and suggest me to dine at the italian restaurant next door ... She also told me that probably after my Italian diner we could come to enjoy a glass of her special reserved champane , then she told me that she was fully booked , but at my big surprise it was only 3 tables .....
So I realised that she was out of her mind and I think she must used ia lot of her reserved champagne .... So we left very very unhappy and she follow us with an open bottle of champagne in her hand screaming at us in the street ....
If you want to have a great evening , please you must go to the italian next door which as a very welcoming for us and told us that he was unfortunatly receiving some disapointing customers of her , which is good enought for his business....
So as you can imagine I will never ever recommand this place ....
At your on risk if you enjoy the Aventure in life .....

The Restaurant l'Aventure was highly recommended by a friend of mine. We went a few weeks ago with my daughter and her boyfriend. Excellent food and service. My daughter went again with her boyfrient and his parents, fod and service excellent. My daughter went again yesterday saturday the 14th of april with some friends of her age 21 , the food and the service was very bad. The money has no age or smell, why this difference? To be young people does not mean to have less attention from the staff, the amount they payed was not less than the other time we eat there, so please be more carefull with the new generation if you want to keep going!!!
We are in London a few times a year but my daughter is studying there so they lost a client and new young potencial clients

My girlfriend and I visited L’Aventure last night having read about in Time Out London. We also read some reviews on sites like this one, and then were a little sceptical, but thought we’d form our own opinion. Our experience was excellent. Great atmosphere, delicious food, service was just right (timely, friendly) and value for money. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking a very French experience.

Wonderful food - including delicious salmon pancakes and a good pork chop. Slightly slow service, but it was a quiet day. Wine list was small but well-priced and selected. Overall this felt like a bargain for quality French cooking.

I attended L'Aventure for the first time last night -20.12.06 - purely on spec not by recommendation. I loved the place, the layout and ambiance was incredible. The staff were fantastic. The food was of the highest quality including the service. Not a budget meal but I did not go there for that, I wanted to be spoilt and I was! Will most certainly visit again and will most definotely recommend to others - well done -

this is the third time we went for dinner to the aventure in the last two years. The food is good quality but it was very slow to come. We had to wait for one hour for the main course (which arrived then in two different instalments...) and 20min for the desert! For a 50gbp/head restaurant, you want to see good food delivered on time! A shame!!!

I have never written a review before, but after my visit to L'Aventure I felt the need to voice my opinion. While the atmosphere and quality of food were reasonable, the service in the restaurant was outright offensive which includes the senior waiting staff as well as the owner herself. After having been served in the most disrespectful manner throughout the evening, our experience was crowned when the bill arrived with the wrong amounts and our (very friendly) request for a correction was not even met with an apology but with some snooty remarks. In times when London was short of good restaurants, behaviour like this might have been accepted. But in my mind, neither food nor the french touch make up for the need to treat guests with a minimum of courtesy.
