Our visit, on my wife's Birthday, surpassed our wildest expectations. From beginning to end we thouroughly enjoyed ourselves.
The staff are the friendliest people you will meet, from the young lady who greeted us to Jean-Claude, the Maitre'D, they made it a special day.
The attention to detail is remarkable. The tables, the service ,the friendly but not too familiar conversation every time a course is delivered. Nothing is too much trouble.
But the food! Ah the food. It takes food to a different level. The depth of flavour, the combinations and presentation make it a sublime experience.
We choose the £40 three course menu and could have eaten every starter and main course!
We enjoyed a comlimentary "pre starter" of pumpkin soup with truffle and parmesan froth. Served with brioche and mushroom butter. I hve never tasted anything like it.
It just got better and better and when a very friendly English waiter brought my wife a sorbet with a candle in it, we were hooked for the future.
But there was more!! Four small strawberry balls of ice cream encased in vanilla chocolate served on dry ice had us floating on air. We will return!

What can I add to the previous reviews? It is more than you think it will be, the food is outstanding and, for those doubters, you really can taste the difference. The service is perfection, the staff, and there's a lot of them, are ever vigilent to your needs, pre-empting you like mind readers! The thing is that the team are not pompous in the slightest - they are even slightly humble, very proud of what they do and very enthusiastic about sharing the wonders of beautiful food with the rest of us!
We celebrated my 40th birthday here and every penny was worth it. My husband had arranged for my gifts (2 of them!! I was agog) to be served by the waiters - a diamond eternity ring with the starter and then diamond earings with the desert! Can you imagine!!! The staff were genuninely thrilled to be part of this and we too were invited into the kitchen and met Mark Askew, the top man! An amazing experience all round.
A note about reservations - its just persistance and a bit of luck - start ringing at 8.50 am and don't hang up the moment you hear a recorded voice - the one that gets you through is recorded but sounds a little different so listen up!!

Went to Ramsays at Royal Hospital Road for my wifes birthday and it was awesome. We had the set-lunch and every course impressed. The service was top-notch and the attention to detail was very professional. We even had a kitchen tour to finish off and met the Head Chef. Not overly expensive at £150 for the two of us incl wine, water and coffees, and as it was so good, we saw it as value for money ! The best restaurant we have been to including other Michelin starred places.

In a word: unbelievable.
Every single piece of food was the best example I have ever tasted. I won't go into detail, but more than one dish was so good I was grinning like a child before I even tasted it.
The service was immaculate, and thankfully not in the least condescending. They found the perfect blend between being there when needed, yet not getting the way (if only some more waiters would realise we don't want to be asked how the food is just as we take the first bite!).
The place was much smaller than I expected but unlike some who felt crowded, I found this made it more warm and friendly. The only annoyance was a late table of Americans who arrived and were clearly making the most of the company credit card.
Yes the place is expensive, but it is absolutely worth the money. I've paid nearly the same amount for the standard 3 courses just because the name was in vogue - in terms of quality, Ramsay's is so far ahead it almost seems absurd to call it a restaurant.

Another review to pile on the praise ..because, in my opinion, every bit of it is well deserved.
7 course tasting menu, three extra free-be dishes, two of my wine choices and two glasses sensibly chosen by the sommelier, and to finish off they offered a tour of the kitchen.
Every aspect of our 4-hour stay was utterly faultless. Yes the dining room is small and very busy, but then this is not Pizzaland, and booking a table is not the smoothest of experiences, but then this place is as popular as it gets.
Awesome, and worth every penny!

Service absolutely brilliant, warm, personal and not intrusive
Food: some of it very very good, some of it less so. We had taster menu, and especially the puddings were a bit disappointing. (different bits on a plate that tasted nice separately but didn't really blend together)
The place: old fashioned in a bad way, ugly, chilly. Made me think of Heathrow (especially the grudgy looking carpet... carpet, how unhygienic and 80ies is that?). Bright white light... brrrrr
Booking process: awful, it rises expectations to an unattainable level.
So, a very good restaurant, but still not worth the wait and humiliation you have to go through when you want to book it.

Yesterday I dined at Gordon Ramsay at Royal Hospital Road for my 30th birthday.
I have to begin by saying that it was by far the most amazing meal and enjoyable dining experience I have ever had. The service was impeccable, it wasn't stuffy but rather attentive, thoughful and personal. It was a delight to have waiters walking around showing each table the white truffle that had arrived that morning delicately placed in a box and describing how they were using the truffle in the dishes that day.
The menu was delightful, the taste of each course delicious, the presentation to the highest quality. In reverse order: the pear tarte tartin was one of the most delicious desserts I have ever had, my husbands chocolate pyramid looked too good to eat but when we did, it too was delectable. The sea bass melted in my mouth whilst my husbands pork three ways was imaginative and bursting with flavour. I don't normally order fish but was pleased I did on this occasion. My entree of mushroom ravioli was light and the flavour of mushrooms intense. The sun-dried tomato bread didn't disappoint. The amuse bouche and petit fours started and completed the experience memorably.
I was given his new book for my birthday also and the dishes we ate were featured in the book and looked exactly the same- the quality control is faultless and left me with no question as to why he has so many Michelin stars. Pleasingly they taste as good as they look, if not better, and considering each one looks like a work of art, that's saying something.
I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone who is after quality food and wonderful service. The only disappointment was when our taxi arrived and I had to leave. By far the greatest birthday present I could ever have had.

Maybe McDonalds would be more to your liking, it has a cheery ambience with plenty of space and lots of other people who know nothing about dining!
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. A genuine dining experience!!

the place is so small that i could not enjoy my night because i was over talked by the table next to me (about 10 inches away)
the food is good but the tasting menu is over all disappointing ,to many different sauces and very strong dishes,
i left with a very heavy stomach .
the staff is basically everywhere and there are far to many waiters on the floor ,it makes the ambience very uncomfortable to enjoy a night out.
i think is a waste of time and money,

This is a restaurant with decent food in London. My wife complained about all dishes having the same flavour, but I don't mind that as long as it tastes good.
Service is excellent although the abuse of Frenchglish is rather amusing (unless of course when referring to dishes please speak either French or English but not both in the same phrase!).
Value is fair, we went £150 a head with wine (one bottle) and believe this is fair value in a city where you can £50/head and come out fuming, or £120/head and come out disappointed.
Two drawbacks I identified:
- The place is very small, like a living room.
- The booking process is very annoying, I tried many times to get an evening seating and it was always fully booked (speaking of size) even calling 9:00am prompt 1 month in advance as they recommend. Never possible, so we settled for a 10:15pm table.
All in all, highly recommended, if you manage to get pass the booking process.
