Read 2 damning reviews in the Times and Sunday Times and almost considered cancelling our reservation. What are they talking about? I quite enjoyed all elements of my meal. My partner was unimpressed with his partridge main course and my brother-in-law was dissapointed with the spirit selection post meal. However apart from that we all had an enjoyable evening. Personally my only gripe was that I couldn't understand why you would completely overhaul the decor of such a classic local establishment. The food may not have been 'outstanding' but the Time's reviews are way off. Bring back the mirrors though.

My wife and I eat there last night. Our view - one of the best meals we have eaten in London for along time. Ambience was lovely. Relaxing and luxurious decor. Staff excellent, friendly and helpful.
Foood - exceptional. The welsh fillet of beef was truly memorable.
We expected a good meal and got a truly excellent one.

We tried the new Odette's last night (14 Dec 2006) with some friends. It is local for us so we had high hopes it could become a regular choice. But alas no...
There is a big improvement on the food front compared to the dull, salt-laden fare on offer under the previous ownership. However the food is ordinary by modern 'French' standards and the sad thing is that the charming atmosphere and the wonderful mirrors of old Odette's have been replaced with something pasteurised complete with tinkling piano muzak in the background. I randomly walked into Odette's tonight (10 October) not realising that it was the opening night of the restaurant under new management and head chef.
I must say having eaten in the old Odette's, my expectation wasn't particularly high...
However to my delight, the food was fabulous. We were the first people to try the 7 course tasting menu - it was worth every penny (£90 each including wine). The service was without fault. The Maître d' and the head chef both came out to talk to us to get our feedback.
I am definitely going again - very soon!!

To everyone who said it was good - you were wrong. That's why it went belly-up last summer. But hooray! It's just reopened, with a new chef and a new interior (I'll miss the mirrors). Haven't eaten here yet, but it's got to be an improvement on the Odette's of the past couple of years. My star ratings are meaningless, but I can't post this without them.

Unfortunately for some of us, Odette's is still living on its past reputation. My family, husband and myself recently decided to have lunch there to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversay - Quite a special occasion. A table was booked for lunch on Sunday 26th March. After about 10 minutes into the lunch, we were beginning to feel rather uneasy. There was only 1 elderly waiter serving food and wine to our table of 13 and in addition 4 other tables. Nobody seemed to be in charge - or if they were - it was not very obvious!
When our food arrived it was very disappointing - poor ingredients, luke warm and some of the dishes could only be described as 'grim'. We did not complain because everyone had wanted it to be a special occasion. There was absolutely no acknowledgement that this was a family celebration - not even a flower on the table - they had been made aware of this when I popped in prior to the lunch to discuss the table arrangement with the assistant manager.
On leaving, our coats were dumped on a table by the door and my son said 'Mum, I am really pleased I did not choose this restaurant.' I wrote to Simon Bradley, the chef/owner on March 30th, setting out my gripes - BUT HAVE HAD ABSOLUTELY NO RESPONSE! This surely can only be interpreted as a further indication of their total indifference to their customer's opinions!
I am not going to bother to rate it because it is meaningless - the whole experience was very very poor.

I've been to Odette's a couple of times and I must say that it's one of my favourite restaurants in London. The food is absolutely delicious, the wine list is extensive and the atmosphere is very warm and relaxed. The only thing that prevents me from going there more often is the high price.

I can't believe some of these reviews. Can only assume some people don't get out much and get over-excited by really bad food and worse service. Odette's has become a joke, which is why it is almost completely empty on any given night of the week. Save your money.
