My wife had booked a table at 24 for my birthday as a suprise.

We went in (Jan 2008) and were pleasently suprised by the politeness of the staff-no snooty attitudes here.

We waited in the bar for five minutes before being seated which was fine.

As it was early evening the views of London 'lt up' were amazing.

We ordered a house red-Merlot at £20 per bottle which was a really nice wine.

We where then presented with an expresso cup of butternut squash soup as an appertizer which was simply wonderfull.

I had the guinea fowl sausage to start which was wonderfully rich but also managed to be a delicate delight to eat.

My wife being a vegitarian was also pleased with the vegitarian dishes on offer

so she ordered three courses that she thourghley enjoyed. My Partridge for mains was fantastic in both presentation and taste.

The sweets (both ordered the creme brulee) were lovely-It came with three different interpretations of the french classic. Each as delicious as the next and we then recieved complimentry pettit fours again superb.

We both had an unhurried meal of outstanding quality and considering the venue superb value.

I cannot recommend this place enough. If you want to eat well in a lovely venue you cannot go wrong here.We will certainly be returning.Well done Gary Rhodes.

A very nice, relaxing evening was had. Courteous and attentive service, with excellent food, albeit quite a long wait for the mains. The mains been unable to justify the wait, however great presentation.

The main redeeming feature of the evening: the puddings. A big, serious thumbs up from both of us.

Interesting wine menu too (kept to a few pages, not a hundred, like some establishments!).

As for views, well very good. The North-East side of the building perhaps not the best for learing over London, however for real views have an expensive cocktail or two prior on the 42nd floor at Vertigo Bar.

I too was taken to Rhodes 24 as a surprise 40th birthday present. I cannot disagree strongly about the comments made. I too found the view to be amazing but I also found the whole experience wonderful. The waiting staff were extremely professional and courteous. I am slightly disabled and they were very attentive to all my needs. I opted for a 'berry cocktail' to start me off and wasn't disappointed. It tasted gorgeous and I am unable to drink alcohol made a perfect drink for me. The starter of 'guineafowl sausage' was not something I would normally go for but it was beautiful. My husband had the 'crab ravioli' and thought it was lovely. . We were given a complimentary taster of 'butternut squash' soup and having never tried butternut squash before we were bowled over by the taste. We both opted for 'Sea Bass' which was absolutely gorgeous, the fish was moist and the mash potato amazing ( I thought our 'mash' at home was creamy but that was nothing compared to Rhodes. As a pudding I went for the 'Apple' with blackberry ice cream and custard, again amazing, with crisp pastry and devine tasting apple and ice cream. My other half chose the 'signature dish' with the three sweets and again it didn't disappoint. I found the whole evening wonderfully romantic, peaceful and it gave me a 40th birthday I will never forget. I cannot praise the restaurant highly enough. Finally I was also impressed that they didn't 'turn tables' so you didn't have people bustiling in and out all the time during your meal. There was no feeling of being rushed to finish the meal, we were able to take our time between courses. It was probably one of the best evenings I have ever experienced. I've always wanted to eat in 'Michein Star' restaurant and taste high quality food to experience the difference in 'fresh produce' and highly talented chefs skills and they are a world apart from a normal 'run of the mill' restuarant.

I went to Rhodes 24 for my birthday. Like may of the reviews, the views are amazing and the service was great. But I have to say the food was ridiculous. I think that the chef has thought about it too much. It is so simplified, that it's too simple. My boyfriend went for the scallops to start, and at £17 he expected something amazing, instead he got three small scallops and a swirl of mash potato. He then went for the famous mutton and suet pudding - which again was a disappointment, he thought it tasted very similar to fray bentos.

I think the location is great, but the next time I go it will only be for a drink.

I was really surprised to read all the excellent reviews of Rhodes Twenty Four. We had been to Maze a couple of months before which was memorable and amazing and we were really looking forward to Twenty Four.

I think the best thing about the whole experience was the view!

Starters okay. My main the Partridge was quite frankly tough. The pudding plate with the ordinary jaffa cake had only one redeeming feature the bread and butteer pudding.

The service I found very clinical. All in all very disappointing and an experience I wouldn't want to repeat.

The good points:

- The food was excellent, a real experience. Just the right amount on the plate. The presentation and taste was excellent.

- The menu was really well organized - so you can find what you'd like very quickly.

- We were the first there and had a fantastic table overlooking the city. It was intimate and felt very private.

- The service was very good - just the right amount of attention and the waiter was knowledgeable about the menu.

The bad points:

- The person I spoke to to make the booking was rude. Enough to keep thinking about it after the call. I spoke to them twice and they were rude both times. This is the first impression I got of Rhodes 24 - not good.

- The menu could have more options, it was a little restricted.

- The wine was very expensive. Out of a huge selection - only two bottles were under £20 pounds, the rest quickly increased in price.

Would I go again - yes. I'd recommend it.

I booked a table at Rhodes as my parents were coming to London for the first time and wanted to give them a taste of London. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect setting or more perfect food!! The atmosphere is sophisticated but not uncomfortable, and the waiters very attentive and friendly. The gazpacho soup served before the meal was one the best things I've ever tasted and a taster of things to come. Of course the Rhodes selection of puddings didn't disappoint. What an amazing evening - I would recomend Rhodes 24 to anyone looking for a special night!

Went to Rhodes24 last night and I have to say it's very, very good.

We started off in the bar, bottled beers were £4 and cocktails were £8 to £13 which is hardly extortion by London prices.

We were given a window table in the middle of the restaurant and ordered a bottle of Chablis (£54) and a bottle of pinot noir (£34), the wine list starts at around £18 for the house wines, and whilst not enormous is quite large with a good selection of wines under £50, quite a few are under £30.

The meal starts with a complimentary gespacho soup served in a little cup, I'm not a fan of cucumber so not really all that fussed about it. Our starters were excellent, the goats cheese tart was light and fluffy shortcrust on a bed of beetroot, whilst my smoked eel was to die for, I could have eaten 3 solid courses of it. We shared a rack of lamb for main which initially looked quite small but was actually beautifully cooked and deceptively filling. For desert we shared a spotted dick (no sniggering at the back please) which was steamed the traditional way (it turned up still in it's wrapper), and I can't remember the last time I had a decent non-fancy dessert like it in a restaurant. Finally we were brought complimetary petit fours which were only half eaten as we were stuffed.

The decor in the restaurant isn't the greatest but the views from the window are excellent and more than make up for it. The staff were all excellent, attentive without being annoying, neither sycophantic nor brusk and all seemed genuinely happy, they did get busier towards the end of the evening so it was sometimes difficult to catch their eye but other than that they were pretty faultless.

All in all a highly reccomended dining experience.

Food and ambience is fab but the service let the experience down a little, the most noticable annoyance was the eagerness of the waitress who cleared my companions dessert plate before I had finished mine. However, the plus points mean I will go back at some as the food really is good and the little extra touches make all the difference.

I went 2 weeks ago. It was my second time and it was utterly appaling.

Service was really slow and unprofessional.

Table was very far from the window despite others table were available.

Food was good but the poor service made the full experience awful.

I will not return to this restaurant.

Value for money was poor.
