Went to Orrery last night and had the menu gastronomic. Service was good and attentive. There was certainly a lot of food but we were not left with that 'wow' feeling at the end of the meal.
In fact, apart from the lamb which was excellent, the remainder of the menu was of the standard of good dinner party food - not anything like the standard of this restraurant's other 1 star peers. The bill came to just over 200 for the set menu for 2, the cheapest bottle of champagne and coffee including service.
An enjoyable evening but we probably won't be going back - for similar money you can eat better quality cooking elsewhere.

Went to Orrery Saturday nite for a treat from my fiancee. Having dined at Aurora and Quaglinos we chose yet another Conran, suffice to say we were more than happy with our choice.
We opted for the Menu Gourmand (7 course taster meal-£55 a head). First we had an amuse bouche of Frogs legs and pea puree-wonderful taster. All 2 fish courses-Sea Bass and Red Mullet were cooked to perfection as was the Foie Gras. The sommelier was also great and really catered for our needs. The lamb was fantastic-it just melted in your mouth. Orrery is also reknown for an impressive cheese cart and so it should be. The choccolate dessert and the complimentary petit fours were a perfect end to a truly memoarable evening.
The service was perfect-not too obtrusive and the ambience - lovely, not pretentious at all. We paid £200 including service charge which was a bit pricey but still worth every penny for a treat and a truly wonderful night out. This is definately up there as one of the best in London along with Gordon Ramsay at Royal Hospital Road (although slightly cheaper)!!!

Dined at Orrery last night and cannot say I was impressed. After being seated, waited 15 minutes to be asked if we wanted a drink. Waited 35 minutes before someone took our food order, even though we had decided within 5 minutes of receiving the menu which was then promptly closed and on the table which I normally take as being an invitation for our order to be taken. The pre-starter starter was an amazing olive oil sorbet with tomato. Well impressed. I had the scallops as a starter, minus the listed avocado and was happy with the result. The scallops were cooked correctly and the mix of apple and potato proved an interesting taste.
I had a lobster for main which was lovely, until I got to the usually sweet and tender claw, which was well overcooked.
The service was just far too slow and the food was fine, but not amazing. Would consider the terrace for a drink but sadly would not eat in the restaurant again.
