We took a snug table, up against the wall, for 4 downstairs, which was perfect for us actually, no throughfare or anyone to bump into your chair. This place is tiny, but who cares... It's quite cool. Others are handling it.

The waiter was fast and polite. The food was better than we expected. The only reason the bill was so high was because we were in such good spirits, we stayed on the bubbly!

Thanks for a great night, we'll be back in few weeks.

I've been here on 4 or 5 occasions. The food is always good (although I now avoid their fish dishes). The wine list is incredible. I had a bottle for £40 which seems expensive until you try and buy it for your home collection and can't find it for less than £100! The atmosphere is also very nice with a rustic, uncomplicated cosy feel.

I will always go back...!

I have just booked my 4th table at, what has become, my favourite restaurant in London.

The previous times I have been have been fantastic. It does exactly what it says on the tin. The menu is straightforward and well-executed and the wine list is fantastic with some real bargains on it.

I have been on two occasions with dates and had a brilliant time as it's romantic and cosy. I also took my boyfriend's family who are very fussy eaters and the thoroughly enjoyed the choice of dishes on the menu.

I have no complaints about the service as I have always enjoyed the way the waiters leave you to enjoy your companion's company and one in particuar is very friendly and polite.

I work in catering myself and find Andrew Edmunds to be a breath of fresh air and always enjoy myself thoroughly.

The food was pretty good, not unreasonably priced and had a nice atmoshere. Small and personal, decent service and a good menu / wine list.

Would I go back: probably not, but I certainly wouldn't discourage people from enjoying what is a good restaurant.

The most sensational wine list, on a bang for buck basis, in London. Food is sufficiently good, service is London brisk. Trust me; I'm a pro, unlike the scores of wannabe critics who populate sites like this.

I have been to this restaurant 4 times now, and the service and quality of food have gradually fallen over time. The second to last occasion was for my father's retirement and the attitude of the staff was brisk, to say the least. The last occasion was with family again - 5 of us put onto a table that should have decently fitted a couple having a romantic dinner. We were presented with the usual handwritten menus and the waitress told us that if we weren't able to make our minds up (after only a few minutes of looking at the menu) "[she] might as well walk off and do something else". Charming.

Having ordered food and wine (the staff appeared to know little about either), the starter came quickly and was mediocre. The main course followed and was even more mediocre (a cheap cut of pork, poorly cooked with lukewarm mash for three of us). The table was so small that my brother ended up with his main course in his lap because he was balancing his plate on the edge of the table.

All this in a restaurant which is perennially busy. It seems to have been a victim of its own success and is resting on its laurels just a little too much. After two great dinners a while ago, one mediocre, and one downright awful (for the lack of service, space and value for money) I regret that I will not be returning again.

So many restaurants in London are an overpriced disappointment, but this place restores my enjoyment of eating out. Chilled atmosphere, if you like the casual, rustic feel. Gorgeous food, well cooked, nicely presented without too much fussing about and the wine is reasonably priced. I would agree with some of the other comments about service, its a bit hit and miss. But overall I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Went on a recommendation and clicked this site to check location and reviews. Needless to say I was slightly alarmed but went with my gut (no pun intended)

Well, the service was actually very good- a slight rush to take our order but friendly and attentive. The food....was v good, especially my main course (moroccan rabbit). Atmosphere is relaxing and cosy. I didn't mind the tight table layout-its part of the charm. The wine list gave good variety.

Bill for two; two courses, a shared dessert and a bottle of wine came to less than £80 inc service. Not bad at all

Despite the previous reviews we felt that the service was pretty good on the Sunday night that we visited the restaurant. (Perhaps the female owner of the restaurant was off on the night.) The food however was quite mediocre and I left the restaurant pretty puzzled as to why it was so popular - one would hardly get a table for dinner on a weekend without prior reservation. The dressed crab that my partner had for starter came in a generous portion at £6.50, tasted extremely fresh if slightly lacking in the natural sweetness of crab meat. I had a smoked duck salad which was pretty good, the blood orange and toasted walnuts were a nice touch too. The main courses however were pretty disappointing - the lamb cutlets were too fatty and pretty tasteless; while the beef stew was ok and very much cooked and presented in a 'home-made' style - I figured I could probably whip up something better in my own kitchen than what was served. The desserts didn't do much better - bread and butter pudding was average and so was the cheese board. In all we concluded that there was little 'craft' in the cooking at this establishment. It probably is a place for individuals seeking to dine out in central London and pay under £30 for 3 courses and half a bottle of wine. However plenty of places come to mind that serves up much better quality fare at similar - if not slightly more expensive - prices. I definitely would not be heading back to Andrew Edmunds.
