Following an impressive makeover from designer Martin Brudnizki, The Rib Room Bar & Restaurant has reopened in Knightsbridge with a new head chef, Ian Rudge, formerly of Northcote in Lancashire. The newly revamped British menu includes their signature roast rib of Angus Casterbridge beef, black truffle roasted chicken, Dover sole, and a range of superior steaks. A set lunch menu is available, priced at 2 courses for 19 pounds or 3 for 25 pounds.
Tuesday, January 31, 2012 - I went for the roast rib of Casterbridge beef with Yorkshire pudding, which was as intimidating as it should be - a gigantic pink hunk of dead cow. It was cooked well enough - rare as all hell - but that couldn't disguise the fact that it wasn't a great cut of meat. It was OK, but to devour a 42 pound chunk of animal, it has to be more than that...There is nothing really wrong with The Rib Room, there just aren't very many reasons to gush about it.
Sunday, December 18, 2011 - My foie gras was delicious. So stylish, square and perfect to look at, it was like something beyond food; it was Hollywood food. The flavour was subtle but complicated – a flank of sweetness, a flank of depth. The caper-crusted rack of lamb came with a neck curry, so naturally I had that because it seemed so subversive; there's 'fusion' and there's 'having two meals at once'. I loved both. The rack was pink, piquant with capers but with a gorgeous, soft flavour beneath...Nevertheless, my abiding feeling is that you'd expect nothing less from a restaurant at this price, and you could get just as much quality and far more excitement from an enthusiastic gastropub.
Sunday, December 04, 2011 - The meat was completely under-seasoned and was so much dull, wet cotton wool. I left at least 15 quid's worth of it on the side of my plate, because I simply couldn't be fagged to carry on dragging it through my teeth. The gravy was like an episode of Downton Abbey: it looked all right, but had absolutely no depth...I don't think they'd get away with it outside SW1. They charge like this for such lacklustre food because they know their clientele don't really care about either cost or quality. And it really shows.
I was in Rib Room last week for lunch! I loved the place...The atmosphere was great- the decor, service, and the food were first class.
I had steak and my friend had dover and we both enjoyed our dishes to the full. The staff were very kind, friendly and we loved the quiet, relaxed, intimate
atmosphere of this place. We are definitely going to dine there again. It is an expensive place to wine and dine but it's worth going!!! Comment on this reader review

Cheese and Biscuits - 6/10
Monday, November 14, 2011 - A pear and Stilton salad was really good, and one of the relative bargains on the menu at only 9.50. Beautifully presented (this is a press shot but it did honestly look just like this when we had it), studded with crunchy toasted walnuts and hunks of oozing honeycomb, it was a dish that satisfied on every level...But then, the steaks. For a restaurant called the Rib Room you'd hope that these would at least be interesting enough to carry the flag, and superficially they looked decent enough, nice and thick and with something approaching a dark char. But looks were sadly all they had going for them - they each tasted watery and bland.
