your comments review this restaurant and win a bottle of champagne

i hadn't been here for many years and had good memories of it but was very disappointed on my return. the whitebait and calamari were overcooked and bitter like they had been fried in very old oil and the haddock i had for main was also overcooked. how can a fish restaurant overcook a piece of fish???!!! the wine list is vastly overpriced as is the food for the quality. i was with a group so didn't want to complain and make a fuss but i won't be returning. shame as it is in such a great location and i still love the concept.

Good place for a potato pie. On the menu as a Fish! Pie for some reason.

It's in fact a bowl of potatoes with some cheese on top ,but hey, the junk they sell in the KFC is called chicken..

Proves that in the right location you can sell anything and charge a fortune.

Prices would be reasonable if the food was great. It is not.

Fish! Fish! Hmmm.... Lovely place. Fresh, delisious fish but you wait... the most exciting thing is.... HAVE you see waiters there!? Oh.... God, do they have to pass some beauty contest to be taken there? :-0

These masculine guys look like they all after being in Navy...

I ate there a couple of time as I leave in the area. The terrace is very pleasant, the food is OK but the portions are tiny, and the dishes are quite expensive... was still hungry everytime I left!! Service was ok-ish.

Don't think I will go back

Four of us, on a summer evening's stroll along the Embankment, discovered Fish at Borough Market. None of us had starters, two had the fish pie and two had Cod & Chips with mushy peas, plus a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. I alone had a sorbet to finish. We had some bread and butter, a jug of tap water, one camomile tea & two coffees. The bill came to £96 - which includes a 12% cover charge. Apart from a pleasant, efficient waitress, the meal was average and we were plagued the entire evening by the bell-ringing at Southwark Cathedral opposite. I won't be returning. Pity, because I love good fish.

I took my girlfriend out here for her birthday, having never eaten here before. I had the calamari to start with, which was delicious. My girlfriend had the prawn cocktail, which was massive, but the prawns were so juicy and fresh. For the main course I ate the scallops wrapped in pancetta, which were so succulent and mouth watering. I can almost taste them writing this! My girlfriend decided to have the steamed hallibut as recommended by our waitress, which she absolutely loved.

Our waitress found out that it was my girlfriend's birthday and she suprised us with her best rendition of happy birthday and a delicious chocolate fondant on the house.! We were so touched, as we hadn't asked for or expected anything.

To sum it up the food was so fresh and simple that it worked so well, whilst the service was really efficient and friendly, without being overbearing. It's a really special place and we will definitely be back!

I have often walked by this restaurant, but never eaten their. I thought it would be a perfect place to take my friend who does not eat meat. There was a great choice of fish dishes and options for sides, sauces, etc. The service was very good - we had a friendly waitress who kepted on the ball with our many requests and changes of mind with drinks and food.

The food exceeded me expectations, (even for a non fish eater) the mains were fresh and tasty (I recommend Monk fish with garlic butter) and the puds good (especially the Sticky Pudding!). The wine menu was pretty good and waitress was always on hand to fill the glasses.

I would recommend Fish for lunch or a light evening meal, its a perfect place to start the evening in a casual environment before heading on into town.

I took family from abroad to Fish and had a really good meal! The service was very good and the staff attentive. The food was well prepared, simple and light - perfect for lunch. While the setting is ideal, especially on Friday/Saturday when the market is on.

I would very much recommend this place.

got to agree this place is average at best and I have never felt compelled to write a review.

Never again will I walk past the solid and dependable Roast to grace a table at Fish. For a specialist fish restaurant they don't do fish well.

I had calamari to start which I imagine would be on par with a Hungry Horse/ Wetherspoons take on the dish, which came served with undressed rocket, loads of it (the rocket that is, not the calamari).

I then had 4 lonely scallops on yet more undressed salad.

I don't mind spending money on a good lunch (Its normally on the company) but £113 + service for three people to each have two poor low end pub quality courses seems expensive.

And I don't like their Ikea style cheapy wine glasses but that is probably irrelavent!

Oh also, I was asked three times by the same waiter if i'd like to order another bottle of water - every time I said yes please and still never got it. Go figure!

TO BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS!! We put in a freezing corner even though I had booked on line and said it was my girlfriends birthday!!

The service was awful and our waitress looked depressed and another nearly threw a salad my girlfriends lap. The table next to us were complaining too with the service and agreed not to tip at all which is most unlike me. We spent £110 on a meal for two which was below average.

I asked for vinergrette for our salad and just got oil?? The monk fish was like leather and the seabass flavourless on a bed of a few veg? To add insult to injury both my girlfriend and I both had dodgey stomachs only and hour or two later runing the rest of our nite. NOT IMPRESSED. I would have asked for the manager if it had not been a birthday treat. Awful.
