I took my husband here for a weekday lunch and booked the day before without difficulty. We arrived at 12.10 and the place was empty (having opened at 12); However within half an hour the place was full. Mainly businessmen from around Jermyn Street on business lunches.
We had a corner table which suited us as it was quieter and more private. The service was good and our waiter was attentive. The menu is varied but has the good English staples (fish & chips, steak & kidney pudding, goat cheese tart). We shared a starter of smoked salmon, then had mains of Dorset crab salad (good) and monkfish (just right, potatoes or mushy peas offered but the fish and a little salad was enough for me for lunch), followed by toffee pudding & ice-cream. Coffee and a couple drinks + water came to £120 (including sevice)... so not expensive.
Atmosphere business-like, and would not be the place for a romantic meal. Good service. We had a good (if short) lunch. Would go again.

Whenever I return to London, which is usually once a year, I always visit Greens. The interior is almost club like. The food is always superb, and the service impeccable. This is a restaurant that tries not to be pretentious, but offers excellent English cuisine and friendly professional service which is increasingly difficult to find in London these days. All in all my favourite restaurant ever.

The food is traditional English with some flair and rather a lot of cream - good but not to die for. One irritation is the management's seeming insistence on sitting you on their worst available table, leaving much better ones empty throughout the lunch. One waiter, having shown a customer a better table appeared to be repremanded while the customer went to the toilet. Maybe we were just unlucky but I would recommend that you make sure you get a good size banquette style table when booking.

On a weekend retreat, my mother and I thought we would spoil ourselves. Having heard excellent things of Greens from an Uncle we decided to try to book. We simply walked in to the retaurant and booked a table for the following night! What could be simpler? So,the proceeding evening we walked to the restaurant and were taken to our seats by the charming head waiter. What followed can only be described as gastronomic paradise! I cannot speak for the other diners, but my meal was superb. To start I had the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs which simply melted in the mouth. For the main course, I chose roast partridge on a bed of pureed cabbage and bacon, with some wonderful potatoes. This was in a league of it's own. I had never tasted anything so delicious. The dreamy potatoes, the juicy, plump partridge and the flavoursome cabbage all came together to make a meal fit for a king. The only dissapointment of the evening was the pudding. I had treacle tart to finish with and I must say that although it had an excellent intense flavour, and was not too sweet, it lacked the moist texture that one likes to see in this particular pudding. However, it didn't make much of a difference to an otherwise perfect evening in which I had enjoyed a truly magnificent meal.

We took our adult daughter here on her birthday for lunch and a friend. Make sure you dress smartly or stick out from the crowd! The service was impeccable and the food even better! Not for the tight fisted, however! We had one drink each to start, a three course meal and shared two bottles of wine for a mere 320 pounds. Good for a special occasion and I'm not saying we wouldn't go back, but take your money with you!
