We have just eaten at Sartoria with a large group of foodies and find it impossible to find fault. We had a fabulous meal with very interesting and well cooked cuisine. The wine selection is inspired, we tasted some previously undiscovered italian gems.
Suggest you ignore the previous unsatisfied revewers comments and try Sartoria for yourself. We hope you will be pleasantly surprised.

We went to Sartoria for a post Icebar meal as part of a work do and the décor was fantastic. The service was also fairly good but the food was a disgrace. I am not normally the most critical person, but I was shocked at the poor level of cooking. I am not sure if it was due to it being a work function in the back room with a different set menu and they focus on serving the smaller groups of customers better but this is still not an excuse.
The starter was a ball of buffalo mozzarella bigger than my fist. It was fairly bland mozzarella although this was not my complaint. It was supposed to be a starter not an entire meal consisting of cheese.
For the main I had the rib eye steak which we were not asked how we would like it served, not that it probably would have made any difference. The steak came out well done and was dry enough to leech the water out of my mouth.
The desert was the mildest cheesecake I have ever had. I did enjoy it, although it was so unadventurous that it could have been bought from Tesco.
The private hire room looks fantastic and the staffs serving us were wonderful, but the kitchen staff would be more suited to work in an east end greasy spoon (although I have had better steaks in those). This was the general consensus amongst 35+ people attending. I will certainly not be returning.

I'm not a wealthy man, oh no..
Last night I thought i'd give my girlfriend a rare treat and take her out for a nice meal in the city, but by the end of the evening she was close to tears.
If the chef had applied the attention to detail the waiters did then things might have been more successful. At one point the waiter lurched over my lady friends' shoulder, lifted our bottle of mineral water, and promptly put it down again, not wholly neccessary.
The menu was vastly misleading.. goats cheese and beetroot salad certainly sounds more exciting than the reality - these two ingredients wedged either side of a slice of toast. The parmesan and rocket salad didn't get advertised as swimming in vinegar like it shoukd have been.
As for our main courses, very bland red mullet and very bland chicken with little on the side to threaten that descriptions' validity.
The decor was nice, and the waiting fine when it didn't seem like harassment, and we only sampled one wine, so maybe you should go and check it out for yourself, but if you're a low-income food-lover like me, taste-wise the Tesco Finest range triumphs over anything we ate last night.

We had a table booked for 6 people at 8 o'clock on a Friday night. The food was superb but the service, except for the bar tender, was awful. We had to ask for the menus and then ask for the wine list. Once the food had been ordered we did not have too long a wait but the staff were very inattentive and didn't smile at all.
On finding a 'discretionary' tip of near £50 on our bill we queried the service with the front of house manager who simply removed the tip!
It was a shame because the food and the company had been excellent and the food was good value for money, it would have made the evening complete if the staff had made us feel that they cared even a little bit about us.

Went there for lunch today – I work nearby and have never been there so was intrigued……but what a disappointment started with the cured meats which was three slices of three salamis that could have come out a pre-sliced pack from Sainsbury’s, followed by sweetbreads with spinach – that were dry and dull!

Went for lunch - excellent service (attentive, friendly Italian waiter) and the food was fabulous (would recommend the ravioli).

Its been a while since I have been to Sartoria, however my husband I thought it would be nice to revisit and old favourite. The staff were pleasant and attentive, the food was excellent and the whole experience was a delight, we wont be leaving it so long to return next time.

We went on a Wednesday evening for a company xmas celebration and our table sat 12. So let's get straight to the point – Sartoria aims to be in upper echelons of the restaurant ranks, with it's sleek, minimal lines, classy tableware and impeccable service. So without sublime gastronomy to match the premium pricing structure, it is all but doomed to disappoint.
My partner had the steak at £22.50 with extra fat and gristle running throughout and I had veal which had a dry, overcooked tastless texture priced at £21.50. Also they were lacking many of the wines from their cellar in their 'extensive' wine list, and it was also an annoyance to have overzealous wine pouring and to have to remind the waiter that you would prefer to finish your glass before refilling - a common technique in these top-class restaurants to encourage you to spend more on another bottle, naturally.
All-in-all, not good enough really.
