Dined here last week, liked the layout with seperate rooms instead of dining hall effect, quite cosy. The staff were friendly - especially the lady at the reception who greeted us. The food itself - I had the chilli prawn starter which was a special for the day was very nice, husband's salmon and caviar was 'ok'. The mains - I ordered scallops with rice - which arrived with the mountain of rice toppled and the scallops lukewarm-cool. I told the maitre d' so and he took it away and brought it back, no effort to make up for having served a lukewarm plate of food. Husband's turbot (he was relieved to have ordered the large portion - which turned out to be one medium sized cut of fish) was rather dry. For a fish restaurant it must be said that I've had better fish elsewhere (Lundums' Seabass is divine). Desserts were nice enough, nothing to write home about. Service was friendly but not attentive - my wine glass was left empty on two occassions - one time the waiter filled my glass of water but not the empty glass of wine next to it, the second time my husband filled my glass. £170 for two. Not impressed and wont be going back. I agree with a comment here about the clientelle's age - very mature indeed.

Poissonnerie is quite simply the best fish restaurant in London. It may not be the most fashionable, the food may not be the most adventurous but if you want attentive service, classic fish dishes, affordable wine list, and a restaurant as reliable as a swiss watch then look no further.

Old style establishment, and very good at it. Quiet, civilised, formal environment, attentive service, very prompt. Elderly local clientele. Not exciting food, but reliable and well executed.

Having frequented the Poissonnerie Restaurant in Sloane Avenue as a regular visitor nearly every week for many years, I feel that this establishment should feature in your Guide.
I would like to say that the Poissonnerie's food, drink and service are all excellent. The restaurant probably is one of the best of its kind in London.

My husband and I were treated to a meal here last week and found the ambiance, service and food to be superb. We both work in the hospitality industry so are often highly critical on outings to restaurants but couldn't fault anything.
I am not a big fan of fish (!) but enjoyed a fantastic fillet steak with green peppercorn sauce, and beautifully cooked vegetables. My fellow diners enjoyed scallops and Lemon Sole which were cooked to perfection.
We were suitably impressed when, on our departure at 11.15pm, several diners arrived asking if they were too late to order a meal - the maitre d' assured them with a smile that they were not, and showed them to a table!
We will return!

I think Poissonnerie is one of the best fish restaurants i ever been if not the best.
The service was good the staff full all smiles towards the costumers and ofcourse the food to its best.
In that night the maitre'd suggested that i should try the loup de mer which was excellent.
The restaurant is popular for its food and the famous guests which i got to see in that night.
I do hope that it will continue for many years to come.

Lovely food but very mature crowd....at 28 felt like baby in comparison to everyone else....unless it was odd family with teenagers. Too bright lighting which affects ambience...but then it's maybe so the clientele can read the menu ; )
