We visited Nipa whilst meeting friends in London for Xmas shopping. Excellent meal very good sevice.
Problem arose with bill. The service charge put onto the bill was actually more than 12%. Husband asked for it to be removed. Noticed after receiving final bill it hadn't been removed. Asked for a refund.
An hour later after a trip to the main hotel reception and dealing with a very rude hotel manager, finally one of the hotel directors (who was at a charity function in the ballroom) stepped in and refunded the £50 service charge.
This totally soured what had otherwise been an excellent evening - I would not recommend Nipa to anyone.

Great food, good service and classic atmosphere. The green curry is excellent. Best thai food I've tasted!
I will for sure go there again.

I have traveled to Thailand. I have taken five days of intensive Thai cooking lessons in Chang Mai. I cook my own Thai food. I am a food snob and eat out at least five nights a week. Given all the above I love coming to NIPA restaurant because it is the best and most authentic Thai food in London. I have been coming to this restaurant for almost nine years now and I'm craving it as I write this.
Everytime I meet someone and they tell me they know the best Thai food in London, I bring them here and they always agree that NIPA is better. When my friend's wife was pregnant all she craved was NIPA to the point where my friend would have to come all the way from Hampstead to get it at least once a week. It has been run by almost all the same people the entire nine years - which is unusual in London.
I didn't realise until I arrived in Bangkok that they also have a sister restaurant in the Landmark Hotel in Bangkok. Here at NIPA they use the real ingredients - not ketchup in the pad thai, not some pre-mixed green curry sauce - the real spices. This is not some Thai pub grub, but the real deal. They do a wonderful job of maintaining the excellent flavors while also appealing to the western palate, but they will happily make it hotter if you like. If any one complains that this Thai food is too hot then they clearly don't know authentic Thai food. and have never been to Thailand for the real stuff. You must give it a try ! Remember there are few tables so get there early.
My advice - try the Larb Gai - this is a typical Thai dish that most Thai restaurants don't have and it's wonderful.

I am a regular and want to share my wonderful experience as I had a very lovely dinner time at Nipa few months ago.I was alone in the restaurant that all tables have been taken. I think it is because of a lovely waitress and very nice foods. Even the place was full, a pretty lady always look after me. She comforted me and very polite. Then no need to talk about fabulous menu there because it always nice and tasty. Combined with good service, the restaurant is on the top! I recommend you should go...

I dine at the Nipa regularly and would recommend this restaurant to anyone that enjoys Thai cuisine. From my ten years experience in London, this is definitely the best Thai restaurant London has to offer. Give it a go.

We ate here June 14 after a day of sight seeing. The service was very good, and so was the food. However, if you do not like spicy food, this would not be the place for you. The bill was under 30 pounds. This did not include wine, etc. I would definitely recommend this place.

I read the fabulous reviews of Nipa on this site and decided to take friends there for a dinner mid-week. While the hotel is lovely, one is disappointed by the restaurant which lacks atmosphere. But this can be ignored if the food was as fabulous as the reviewers had claimed it to be. Unfortunately for us, we were BITTERLY disappointed!
Everything that we ordered (except for the rice) was so absolutely hot that none of us (usually people who enjoy spicy food) could finish a single dish!
The service was abismal and while the food destroyed our oral faculties and threatened to kill us, the waiting staff took their time in bringing us rice, water and drinks that could cool down the chillies. Most of the time there was not a single waiting staff in the vicinity.
It has been a few months since I went to Nipa but as I accidently stumbeled upon this site again, I looked for reviews to see if it reflected the true nature of things but to my surprise Nipa is still being hailed as lovely and wonderful. I just don't want people to be recommended to spend their money at a place from where you come away hungry because everything has three times the amount of chillies it should!

The food is really lovely. £50 for a large bottle of mineral water, two starters, two mains, and two types of rice. I suppose this is what you have to pay to be for such a beautiful environment! Get a table by the windows if you can. The dessert list was a bit of a disappointment, nothing exciting on it. Warm, friendly and efficient service. Would go back if I wasn't paying!
