Princess Garden of Mayfair
I was taken to this restaurant 2 months ago by my wonderful partner when my mom was over in London on holiday.
We were booked for lunch and we wre immediately shown to our seats.
The food was delicious and the service was good.
We were lucky as it was lunchtime on a Saturday so it was peaceful and quiet.
The staff were unintrusive and competent, however there was not much interaction.
The food we had was delicious and succulent, the spare ribs were so tender and juicy the meat fell off the bone.
The sweet and sour prawns were juicy and the the portions were huge, I nearly fell asleep as I sadly tended towards gluttony as the food was so delicious.
It was a great meal and I will definitely be back for more even if it was a tad pricey.

Princess Garden of Mayfair
Food was very disappointing, but the atmosphere was nice. The restaurant was very busy but the waiters and waitresses didn't have a problem keeping up. The food arrived quickly, but just wasn't as good as expected. It just didn't taste like proper Chinese. Quite a shame for a place that looks very nice and is lively inside.

Princess Garden of Mayfair
A party of six at a birthday celebration, the restaurant happily took receipt of a cake which was nice, although the maitre'd wasn't that welcoming. It's a nice enough interior with good acoustics, and not too bright.
The food was standard fare - typical mixed hors d'oeuvres complete with prawn crackers, seaweed etc, pretty small main dishes straight out of the takeaway. The cantonese chicken was half a roast chicken, then deep fried with prawn crackers on top - truely BIZZARRE. not that great at english so ordered by numbers which felt a little lame. Had to wait a looooonng time for drinks to arrive, and bizarrely there's some kind of hierachy where you can only order from some waitresses not others.
The cake came out with one candle plonked in it - I never recieved the other 20 back...
I was hoping for a great night but got a 14, a 72 and some prawn crackers. Not cheap - but reasonable for the area. mMMMHH it was ok.. but not great.

what the bloggers say
London Eater
Saturday, September 17, 2011 - I thought the shiu mai was constellations above the London competition, managing to tamp sheerly decadent rims of pork fat with copious amonts of mushroom and crab. The ball of dumpling was so bouncy, it could double as a tennis ball - bounce in this type of dumpling is the best kind of attribute...Princess Gardens is currently serving my favourite dim sum in London, besting Pearl Liang. It carries the right kind of atmosphere and the quality of food is redolent of many fond things.
Tamarind and Thyme
Tuesday, September 13, 2011 - Their wu kok, a fluffy fried taro pastry with a meat filling, a firm favourite of mine, was very good and especially fluffy. Mr Noodles was raving about the golden cuttlefish cheung fun and so of course, we had to try it! I had no idea what to expect (I think images of golden tentacles waving out from the cheung fun filled my mind) and so was pleasantly surprised to find a tube of cuttlefish paste wrapped first with a fried tofu skin wrapper and then encased in the cheung fun. What a great variety of textures - bouncy, crispy and slippery smooth - and yes, it was tasty too.
A Rather Unusual Chinaman
Tuesday, June 07, 2011 - Don't let the location share you off, the prices at Princess Garden are very reasonable and are pretty closely aligned with what you would expect to pay. The food itself felt a bit lacklustre to me, and in the words of my travelling cousin, a little bland. Don't get me wrong, it was far from bad, but when you are eating fried things, and steamed things, you really want to be distinguishing flavours and more than just tepid. The dumplings were probably the highlight of the meal for me, with the scallop and prawn ones in particular, beautifully presented and delicately steamed.
Dos Hermanos
Monday, June 06, 2011 - A starter of Octopus was rather good. I really enjoyed the pasta course as well. Paccheri, cooked al dente, came with chopped-up razor clams, although there probably wasn't even one in there. It was very good but I'd probably want a lobster or something in there for 17 quid...Unfortunately, things went a bit Pete Tong when it came to my main course. Red Mullet is one of my favourite fish but the two fillets here lacked sparkle and they'd been cooked on a plancha that hadn't been cleaned properly so there was a lingering taste of old oil.
Londonelicious
Wednesday, March 31, 2010 - Char sui buns. Dense, somewhat flavorless bread, surrounding marinated pork. Princess Gardens' chair sui buns are much better examples than those I've tasted elsewhere...The prawn dumplings were okay, but I think we let them sit too long before eating them. They were nothing to write home about...I wasn't over the moon about Princess Garden. That being said, we started off really strong with those mooli cakes and the taro and I would gladly go back for more of those.
