I went to this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend and brought clients. The food was amazing. Sooo tasty and so much of it. We went for the set dinner for two people which was £30 each. There was a wide variety of appetizers, duck pancakes and a variety of mains with fruit to finish it off. The service was fantastic and our waiter was quick and efficient whilst giving us time indulge. Would thoroughly recommend this restaurant and plan to go there again tomorrow with my family!

Amazing food and some of the best dim sum in the world served by angry staff.

the staf were not friendly at all, they had this attitude of dont waste my time written all over there face, was there for the first time didn't understand the menu and thought the girl (staff) would help me out but she she just ignored me, stood there, stared at me and said nothing.

The fried rice was ok, vegetable spring rolls is not good at all.

I have been going to Royal China since 2007 but mainly frequented it's St John's Wood Baywater and Canary Wharf locations but decided to go to it's Baker street branch with my family since it was very close to Marble Arch.

I ordered the steamed chicken and mushroom dish was later told in a very patronising, condensing and rude manner that I will not like the dish because I am a westerner. I explained that I knew what the dish entailed of and I was here to eat chinese food and was not expecting to be served anything else but. She haughtily told me that I didn't know what I was talking about. I asked to talk to the manager who apologized but I had enough. The waitress was then heard talking loudly to the other servers telling them what happened. My family and I walked out and I will NEVER be going into another Royal China Establishment as long as I live. They will never get any of my money again.

AVOID this restuarant like the plague.

Not sure why this place is getting so much bad press. I admit the service may not be so exceptional it justify its 12.5% service charge but I had a pleasant experience today with friends. Food was good too with it usual tasty dim sum, nice noodles and plenty of tea.

I visited the Royal China yesterday with my wife and two children.

The food was very good but the service was unpleasant and bordered on 'hostile'. In particular, the manager had an approach so offensive that it completely ruined our afternoon.

It is fair to say that we shall never darken the doors of that establishment again.

Group of 5 of us went to this restaurant on Boxing Day at 7 pm. Wasn't very busy. After ordering we had to wait 30 mins. before we got our starters, Chicken Satay was dry and hard, and with two portions, only one satay sauce! We asked for another, twice, but did not get it! Main meals, we got 4 out of 5 main meals, and when the waiter was reminded twice that we were still waiting for our rice and 5th main meal, he apologised. By now the others had finished their meal and we were still waiting. The 5th main meal came but now we were still waiting for the rice to eat it with!!. By the time the rice came, the main meal was cold and we had lost our appetite. We asked for the bill minus the food we had not eaten, ie, 5th meal and rice. The manager came and offered to give 10% off the bill...but still had the SERVICE change of 13% on the bill!!! At this point I felt so angry that i had let the manager know of the lack of service that we had received and got that off the bill too. As we looked around, we noticed the restaurant was now busy and other customers were getting agitated too, as they were having to wait an unexceptable time for being served. So, if you are hungry, do not go here unless you are prepared to wait a long long time. We will not be returning to this restaurant again.

What a delightful dim sum and camaraderie a group of friends--old and new--from India, the Netherlands, New Zealand, and the U.S. spent on a recent Saturday afternoon at Royal China, courtesy of one of the New Zealanders who has lived in London for many years. She said it offered the best dim sum in London at a reasonable price and she was right. The food was terrific and the service attentive. Though the restaurant was packed, we never felt rushed. We will recommend it to all of our friends who visit London!
