Visited Saturday 17th and even arriving at 1.45pm the restaurant was full and buzzing. Only had to wait 15 mins for a table and had fantastic dim sum; freshly cooked and extremely tasty - never had spare ribs like them! Efficient service, only point I wasn't keen on was them filling our teapot from a thermos on the side - same leaves throughout! Would definitely recommend though.

SIMPLY THE BEST DIM SUM LOCATION IN LONDON. THE EVENING MENU FANTASTIC, STEAMED EEL WITH BLACK BEAN SAUCE AN EXPERIENCE NOT TO BE MISSED. EXCELLENT SERVICE, INCREDIBLE VIEW, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR BUSINESS OR LEISURE.

We ate here before going to the movies last Saturday, and I have to say that I thought it was excellent -- and perfect for this -- a basic, short, delicious, reasonably priced place. Sure, the staff is not overly friendly (though they're not unfriendly either -- as someone else said, they're efficient). But the food is fabulous -- we especially loved the squid starter and the sizzling black bean chicken. Vegetable dishes are a bit overpriced, but everything else was great value.

Royal China serves the most fantastic dim sum, I especailly reccommend the Pork Bun and Shangahi dim sum.

Nice atmosphere and reasonably priced for lunch, with great views of the river.

Service was very good, especially if one of the party is Chinese, but I was dissapointed by the main dishes, Shanghai Udon noodles and seafood noodles.

However, I would definetly come here again, and cannot wait to try the other Royal China's in London

Went to Royal China last Friday for the first time. I found the experience to be very pleasant, food was great and the wine selection was pretty good (am no expert but can appreciate a good wine).

I was a little worried about the service having read the other reviews on here but to be honest whilst it is fairly 'blunt' in style the service is efficient and attentive. The only thing i really didn't like about the service was the fact that the waitress came rushing over and grabbed the bottle of wine out of my hand when i went to top up our glasses - maybe i wasn't pouring in the correct manner!

I'd happily go back and recommend the place to anyone else thinking about it.

Having had this restaurant recommended to us we finally gave it a go last nite. Very nice table, food good but overpriced. The one thing that really let the place down was the surly, unhelpful and bordering on rude service. The attitude of the staff, and in particular the hostess, was appalling to say the least.

Whilst we enjoyed the food and the atmosphere we would be reluctant to go back!

I think people need to get their expectations right when they come to this restaurant.

This is not Gordon Ramsay's, this is not Hakkasan, this is not the place to impress your most important clients.

What Royal China is, is simply a place where you get the best Chinese dishes and dim sums in town. And if your clients are into the same mood too, then fine.

Also, customer service is relative. For a typical chinese restaurant, customer service means quick and reliable dishes. It's not 'how do you do', 'can I pour you some wine' or 'care for the dessert, sir?'

So next time you come here, come with an open mind and you shall find that this place offers the best chinese like no other.

A nice location (nice water views of docklands) for authentic tasty dim sum and dinner. A nice place with many chinese, but a little bit overpriced (because of location?) considering the food quality compared with chinatown restaurants! We had 5 dim sums, 2 mains, drinks, approx. 25-30 pounds/person.

Value for money at Royal China is excellent. Dim sum usually evens out to around £10 per head. You should never order alcohol from a chinese restaurant anyway and generally the quality of service in a chinese restaurant is inversely proportional to the quality of food. I'd rather the service be poor! Agreed that it would be nice if they could be more polite but it is outrageous to claim that the food is not good value. Take your clients to a different place if they're the pretentious sort!
