Bitterly disappointed!!! AWT has always been my favourite 'celeb chef', however the meal at his Notting Hill venue left a bitter taste. My Husband had booked this as a Birthday treat and we had travelled up from Staffordshire for the event.
We arrived at the venue - which incidently is in the middle of no-where,and were totally ignored by the Restaurant Manager who was parading about like some peacock!!! It was 35 MINUTES before he even noticed us, and only then because my husband shouted at him! No apology was made for his error and we were ushered into a corner.
To be fair, the starters were nice - although neither were rocket science, however the steaks which we ordered as mains were appalling; of my 9oz sirloin, 2oz was fat and gristle. My husband's steak was really tough, and the only flavour from both came from the charcoal broiling. We had ordered tomato salad side orders which at £4.50 each for ordinary tomato cut into eighths with a bit of finely chopped onion and a few shreds of basil was an absolute rip off!
Our mains were cleared and the desert menus were slapped down by a very sullen waitress who said nothing - we ordered a taxi!!!!
Everyone has bad days; but there were other diners who it was obviously not going well for; just don't go!

Just had Saturday lunch. Considering this is a restuarant that prides iteslf on standard fayre, it is amazing how badly it could go wrong. I have had thicker, moister sirloin steak from the supermarket. Cooking it in butter and seasoning it does not add taste, just seasons it well. Staff were less than polite, when the waiter realised he had not bought our chips with our main course he proceeded to continue with arranging someone elses bill than completing our meal. Starters were very small, if quarter of the mussells served had opened it might have been sufficient. No wonder we were one of only three tables occupied at any one time. Have eaten at AWT in Barnes and Kew, although neither are out of this world, both are considerably better than this. On our next outing in Notting Hill will try any one of the three better looking restaurants we passed on the way home.

Was there last night - the menu is not expensive nor extensive but they get it right. My sirloin was excellent - perfectly cooked. Service was a little slow but friendly and the atmosphere was good. I can see that it's the sort of place that will screw up from time to time as other reviewers have suggested but I have been here three times and am yet to be disappointed.

I ate here with my girlfriend having lived close by for years and never been.
We were a little unsure after reading some bad reviews but it was fantastic. It was so good we had starters, mains, deserts, coffee and liquor, we did not want to leave.
The food was great, I had the mixed grill which was better than I thought it would be, not to much of any one thing and all very tasty. Generous portions so don't go to crazy when ordering your side dishes.
Our waiter was excellent and helped me choose an excellent French wine from the region where he was born and all things considered it was not too expensive.
Can't wait to take some friends here soon

My girl friend and I ate at Notting Grill last week, after reading some quite mixed reivews!!
We both had a starter and a 9 oz steak for our main courses we finished with just one sweet between us...... the bill came to £85 which I think was OK.
I have to say I had the '28 day aged fillet' which was the best steak I have ever eaten. My partner had the 'Pope's eye' steak which was very tough.
Over all not bad but the staff were not over friendly and got the impression that they wanted us to spend more in the way of drinks etc.

Thought the place was awful.
Cold, tasteless soup with ultra-thick consistency
Followed by an incredibly boring fish dish. Large fish and a couple of hard carrots.
Shocking really considering its got a celeb-chef behind it. Wasnt that busy. I can guess why.

We went to the Notting Grill on the 2nd June and were uncertain what to expect after reading some of the reviews. We should not have been worried as the food was fantastic and we sat on the roof terrace which made for a lovely relaxed evening.I had the mixed grill and would totally recommend it as the meat was so tender and for dessert i had the triple chocolate option.Chocoholics i recommend!!!

I visited the Notting Grill on Friday night 27th April 2007.
Having flown in from Ireland after a long day I was looking forward to a good meal in nice surroundings. I am please top advise that I was not disappointed. Myself and my 10 yr old son arrived at 8pm and were greeted by a very friendly Maitre'D and promptly taken to our seats. The staff were extremely courteous to both of us and made us very welcome. My son had the childs portion of the Bacon/Cheeseburger which he complimented highly and polished off in double quick time. I had the pan-fried prawn starter, delicious, followed by the sublime 24oz Ribeye. A major challenge to eat but WOW what a steak, tender, juicy and full of flavour. We had an excellent evening and were well looked after. Congrats to all at the Grill

My Husband and i decided to book a weekend break in London and eat at AWT's Notting Grill we had booked this table 4 weeks in advance but didn't need to bother it was empty. We were shown up to the terrace outside because it was a nice evening, that would have been great apart from fag ends all over the floor and around the table straight away i was put off. We were shown to our table at 7.30 and was not even asked what we wanted to eat until 8.15pm. When the waiter did come over and i told him what i wanted to order he decided he would try and pick the menu for us by trying to get us to have something else.
When the food arrived about 40mins later i have to say it was good . I think overall the problem is with the service not the food. keeping up with the cleaning on the terrace would be a good idea.

I was utterly unimpressed with this place. The service was appalling, slow, ill mannered staff who seemed only interested in attending to the private party. The steak I ordered was fatty with only a mouth full of decent meat. They had also run out of dessert excpet for a frozen lump of chocolate. If you want a decent meal with excellent service go to Sophie's steakhouse! Do not go to Notting Grill!!
