This place is near where I work and have passed it many times. When I finally ate here it was amazing. Can be a little pricey but if you're looking for a little treat and it's close by then you should go here. Dinner in during the times of the year when it gets dark early is perfect as they had an open fire which added to the ambience.
The service was as good as the food and I will be going back.

I have been going there for a few years now, the food is always "good" which is exceptional for anywhere in this area, good service, nice place, a little bit pricey but worth the extra.

I stopped off their for a quick bite with a friend last night. I have been there once or twice before and have always regarded it as reasonable value for functional food if you are passing. Maybe something has changed in the kitchen, because last night my single course of baked cod with broad beans (I think) was outstanding. The fish was very fresh tasty and cooked to perfection. The beans and other bits and pieces were a perfect accompanyment. My friend had a risotto which he was delighted with.
A bottle of Argentine Sauvignon Blanc from the cheap end of the list was perfectly nice. Coffee was unremarkable.
My only gripe about the place is that I find the decor a bit downbeat and depressing. It doesn't match the style and quality of the food.

I had dinner there with a friend on Friday, and absolutely loved it. I had the cod as main course, and it was cooked to perfection. My friend had the beef, which was also fabulous.
The service was attentive and very friendly without being intrusive.
I will definitely go back and heartily recommend it.

Although we were initially going for another restaurent we ended up in that place, which offered a very lovely setting and appetising menu. And what a lovely surprise it turned out to be!!! The dining room (especially the one at the back) was very cosy, quiet (nice to talk and listen to your friends) yet modern and vibrant. the service was just perfect, our waitress was very pleasant and attentionate without being overwhelming. the menu offered a wide-enough selection and my rib-eye piece of beef was absolutely sublime. my friend had a piece of cod crusted in parmesan and parsley which was also very tasty. the chocolate fondant with ice-cream - although not very original - was delicious and just the right size. it is certainly slightly pricey but definitely worth every penny. a great find and one i'll go back again and again.

I had dinner there last Thursday and what a find! My partner heard about the place from friends with their glowing comments about the service, food, atmosphere and celebrity clientele. Vic Naylors certainly lived up to its name. The main room is amazing with it's huge roaring fireplace. My starter of ham, avocado and poached egg on rosti seemed like a strange combination, but well worth the risk. The combination was superb and something i would definately try to cook myself. I then had rump of lamb which was a great cut of succulent tenderness. This topped of with service which was warm and very accomodating. We were also treated to an evening where Robbie Williams was in attendance with the Pet Shop Boys! After dinner, we went to the cocktail bar where the drinks were perfectly made - very much like a New York cocktail bar. For what was supposed to be a quiet dinner, we ended up staying till 2 am. Will definately go back and recommend to others.

I met a friend for dinner here last week. It's a lovely warm and inviting restaurant. My starter of smoked duck was just ok, but my main course of a pork copy with honeyed parsnips was excellent. My frind enjoyed both her starter and main course. Desserts were small but very nice. My main complaint was the service which was dreadful. Our main course arrived about an hour later than our starters which is completely unacceptable and a casual apology from our waitress was not enough. The food was also over-priced. I won't be going back.
