Tootsies (Turnham Green)
your comments review this restaurant and win a bottle of champagne
My friends and i often frequent this little diamond on Chiswick high st. The burgers are first rate, the staff are fantastic and in summer its one of my favourite places to grab a table out-side and watch the world go by.
we visited again last week, and although the staff seem a little thin on the ground, they were still efficient and freindly.
My girlfriend had one of the new beef pies, which was "out of control" fantastic and my steak was good as well, cooked med, as i ordered it, with one of the best peppercorn sauces i have ever had.
So a big thumbs up to Tootsies Chiswick. keep up the good work!!!

My brother wanted to try this restaurant near Turnham Green Station on Chiswick High Road, so I agreed to step in and give it a go. Right away, I detected a lack of ambience; and in retrospect if I were asked now about the decor and atmosphere; I remember it as a sort of wood-effect Wimpy Bar.
Before we chose from the menu, we decided to order a bottle of Australian Semillon-Chardonnay. I realise that `screw tops' are becoming the accepted thing nowadays, so I didn't really bat an eye lid at that; however, one would have thought the Australian wine would have been at least something `easy drinking,' like say; Hardy's or Jacob's Creek; but instead it was something that I later described as battery acid. It had a very bitter under-taste which left me wondering if it wasn't one of those gut-wrenching bottles of cheap wine that are sold at some off-licenses for £1.99. This bottle of wine was sold at around £12.95.
I decided to order the salmon, from which I requested the accompanying fries to be omitted, because I was trying to shed a few pounds. This fish dish was a very big disappointment however; being that the portion was so very small.
It was a tiny square of skinned and boned salmon. I have bags of these exact portions in my freezer at home. They have been in the supermarkets for years, but Young's currently have their name on them. You get six small (microwave from frozen) portions of wild Alaskan Salmon in a bag for £2.99; and this is what I left this restaurant believing that I had eaten; one measly portion of this salmon with a couple of teaspoonfuls of a very bland tomato salsa, served with a load of salad leaves without dressing, which I firmly suspected probably came from a ready washed salad bag from Sainsbury's close by.
This plate of salad leaves with the tiny piece of salmon almost lost in it, was priced at around £12.95; I had the same ingredients at home, which I could have prepared for less than a pound. The customer next to me ordered the same dish with the fries, which to me looked like a handful from a bag of frozen oven chips.
One positive note: My brother said that he had nothing to complain about his plate of Nachos with Cheese, which he decided to have as his main course.

A little hit and miss this restaurant. 1st time I went it was wonderful and the burger was as good as GBK across the road. 2nd time I went the food was awful (rotten tasting meat, stale bread and cold fries) and we complained to the waiter wh didn't really seem to give a tootsies. I liked the open frontage and the location on the high road but this is the only thing I felt has going for it because the staff and food would be enough to make you give up food.
