Fishworks (Parsons Green)

Fishworks…8pm…Saturday night. Not busy yet it took 20 minutes for our food order to be taken, during which time we had to remind them to bring drinks we had asked for. Only on ordering were we told that several items weren’t on the menu. 2 fish pie and 1 lobster were ordered, only to be told 5 minutes later that whilst our order was being taken the last fish pie had gone. So, another lobster was ordered. ONE HOUR later our food arrived. We didn’t get the veg we asked for and the 2 lobster portions were so measly they could barley have justified ‘half’ - we had ordered full portions. The waitress said we would not be charged for one of the lobster courses and our main courses were removed while we waited for the other half of our lobster to be cooked. The veg were left to go cold, although at that stage we were grateful for something to nibble on. When main courses finally arrived we were bitterly disappointed. Uninspiring to say the least and we felt we could have done better ourselves. We had to chase waiting staff several times for finger bowls and appropriate cutlery.

In the midst of all this one table walked out halfway through their meal in despair and another had started to complain. So, to add to the poor service, disappointing food and bad value for money, the atmosphere was unpleasant. Final straw came when the bill arrived and we were charged for the ‘free’ lobster and ‘free’ vegetables we hadn’t ordered. Once sorted, we couldn’t wait to leave. Nothing could persuade me to go back.
