Re-review. Great burgers and half price booze during happy hour; can't complain except for the half baked service.

At the least the heavily pregnant lady managing the restaurant was diplomatic enough.
Three of us went to the James Street branch to sample the award winning burgers last night. The waitress, who took our orders was amicable enough but seemed to be in rush with the whole procedure. It was a case of ‘excuse me young lady before you go we are having beef burgers and not chicken and can we have them cooked Medium please.’ Alas the food arrived, the presentation was indeed mouth-watering, however the burgers were hopelessly charred to death; well done beyond belief. We were all too hungry to raise a complaint and being a Friday night the waiting staff were rushed off their feet. The other irritating thing was we came to the restaurant during the Happy Hour, so we were entitled to our second drink respectively for free. As the promised free drinks were not too forthcoming; the constant reminders to the waiting staff made us look like lapsed members of the AA. However I did notice the young lady manning the bar was struggling on her own.
Potentially the food was good despite the above experiences. We only complained to the waitress about the state of our burgers when she came to clear the table. She acknowledged apologetically and mentioned she’ll have a word with the manager. The above manager was kind enough to take one of the main courses of our bill as a respite. I shall at least be going back to sample what the true award winning burger is capable of.

I have to stop at Tootsies whenever am in town. It's just the perfect lunch spot after a day of shopping. The people watching is always fun there. I am a big fan of their burger. There is somthing about their burger. Overall, it's a must spot for lunch.

Pretty rubbish at Monday post-lunch. How could you get steak baguettes so wrong? Place was empty, service was 'here's your food' style - not good for automatic 12 1/2 % service, steak was cold, baguettes were those funny soggy things that pubs & cheap places do for the last few years.
OK not expensive but that's not the point - maybe the food was just wrong choice

Went for lunch on Saturday 17th February. Our party consisted of myself, son age 19 and daughter and friend, both 12. My son and I both had steaks which were overdone. We were served by the most unsmiling waitress. Not the happy cheerful place I had hoped for my daughter's birthday outing.

The burger is just delicious and name any topping , they have it! The service is good and as far as having a burger is concerned you can not ask for anything more.

I went here last night for a birthday meal. We came because of the burgers which sounded great on the Tootsies website.
The restaurant was pretty good but I expected a bit more, like a proper glass for my leffe and some cosier seating. The service was quite good, not great, the meat was excellent. I went for the burger with everything on bar the kitchen sink, which was probably a mistake as it was too much to handle and the bread soon got soggy. My girlfriends Jalepeno and Avocado concoction seemed better. Great portion sizes though.
Overall a pretty good joint, and I would return to try something a little more manageable

If you want a burger - this is the place to come! The portions are huge - only double up if you dare. The meet in my burger was fresh and cooked to how I wanted it. The chicken burgers were full chicken fillets. The staff were friendly and looked after us well. I will go here again!
