Il Bordello

Il Bordello is a really good place for a quick pizza or pasta. The service is very friendly and quick and the place seems to be packed all the time, even on a Sunday night at 10pm.

Menu also has a good selection of meat and fish but prices are high, although portions are HUGE.

As I said the place is busy so may not suit a quiet romantic meal, but if your in Wapping give it a go.

Great place. It's always buzzing and the staff are friendly and funny. Huge varied menu with plenty of specials. My God, the portions are huge. I went yesterday night (a Saturday) in a party of 23 and everybody loved it. The best Italian I've been to anywhere. The mango and crabmeat starter was excellent and the duck breast in port sauce was very very good. It is one of those places where you can't decide what to have as there so many great choices.

Fab restaurant, great waiting staff who are not too fussy and leave you to make your choices in your own time - which i love. Busy, vibrant, thriving atmosphere, great food - huge portions and a great price - for example: two starters which were large enough for four to share, four main meals, four glasses of baileys at the end of the meal, two bottles of wine and four bottles of mineral water and the bill was £95!!!

After reading the many positive review's I had high hopes for this restaurant. I felt that it was fine, nothing special. The food was good (but not amazing). I didn't like the 'cafe' style feel that it gave off (plastic table cloths etc) and the seats were so uncomfortable we all had to keep getting up to bring the feeling back into our bottoms! However, it was good value.

Oh my god - this is THE BEST restaurant! I love it here! It has now deservedly gained position as my favourite restaurant in london.

It can be depended on time and time again to deliver consistently brilliant food and great service - the waitors are lovely.

It sounds as though a lot of us have been there enough times to know that this is one true star of a restaurant. Those who have had one 'bad experience' I don't think know what theyre talking about, sounds as though they're slagging it off for the sake of it.

The fact that it is packed at 10pm during the week surely tells you something. The other day, we waited to be seated until 11, and when we left at half 12, it was still packed.

i love how it's busy and buzzy and everyone's having a good time. Yes, you are crammed in a bit, but there's such a fabulous atmosphere you don't notice! It's how an Italian restaurant should be!

My favourite wine is the falanghina yum yum yum!

After reading the reviews on this site I booked a table for two on Saturday night. I was told there were two sittings, one at seven and another at nine. I thought this was a bit quaint and after selecting the seven o'oclock slot was really looking forward to the meal as some reviews suggested good old fashioned italian food. When were arrived the restaurant looked good enough although not particularly the old fashioned italian I had imagined, more like typical pizza/pasta job, plastic table cloths. very close tables and very noisey etc. I was even more disappointed with the food. I have had a very similar menu on the other side of the river (maybe same owners) which was alot better. Th soap of the day was like wall paper paste, my partners starter consisted of defrosted watery prawns with no taste. My chicken sopressa was so burnt, I had sto scrap the chicken off the breadcrumbs and our creme caramel dessert tasted of medicine, the caramel was so burnt! Needless to say I am not going back.

Im going tomorrow night (Valentines Day) and I can't wait. It will be my 4th time and I now live in Wapping so its even easier to "pop" in. Atmos is great and buzzy, food is second to none and anyone who says otherwise clearly have no concept of "easy eating out"... Little tip, get the 9.30 slot otherwise they do hover for you to leave if you have the 7.30 slot...

Cannot be bested, FACT!

It has been about 3 years since I last went to this restaurant and I can say without any hesitation, it hasn't changed - thank god. I arrived at 10:30pm expecting to get a table easily since most London restaurants are shutting by 11:00and are empty by 10:00. To my amazement, there was barely a table available and this was midweek. Great I said to my son, we've hit the jackpot - it must be as good as the last time I was here and boy was it! The mushrooms in garlic we shared to start were a meal on their own. Every dish we watched being brought out, we eyed with glee. If you want quiet, don't go to any Italian restaurant - by their very nature, they are not supposed to be quiet and this one certainly isn't. It buzzez with people, aromas, ambience and is quite simply superb. Be warned though, while the food is beautifully presented and tasty, portions can be gargantuan! If you want excitement and few tourists, the people in-the-know go here again and again.

Went back for a business lunch at Il Bordello for the second time and it was first class. I looked forward to the meal and having last been about 12 months ago I was hoping the restaurant had not gone down in standard. I was not disappointed!!!

Everything about Il Bordello is excellent, from the settings, staff, speed, service, standard and menu. The service from the knowledgeable and professional waiters is excellent, polite and responsive. The wine list is carefully selected and caters for all tastes and wallets (try the Chilean Red reserva - first class) and the food - just superb!

As 5 of us just "had to have" 3 courses (it was hard work but somebody had to do it!) and the specials menu is excellent. Il Bordello's have a very wide menu of pizza, pasta and italian cuisine and there is something for everyone!

After wining and dining in such a brilliant environment, sadly we had to go back to work, and all left full, happy, warm and contented after a splendid meal. Looking forward to going back!

One little tip - try the Seafood Linguine - that's the reason why I think this place is one of London's best kept secrets!
